Castor oil.

Well I'm abo it to take castor oil. Slightly nervous but after all lot of research and realized there seems to be no actual links to any side effects. My midwife also said I'm a perfect candidate and it would be a good idea. I was 2 1/2 cm as of Tuesday and just had more of a bloody show. I have so much pressure in my legs. The only thing is he hasn't dropped but she said most second time mom or allot atleast don't drop till labor. Who all has tried it? Has any one had any complications with their babies themselves not by word of mouth? Everyone I know is for it. My midwife is a 5 star midwife and she says it absolutely does not cause meconium aspiration.

I'm hoping so. My midwife really wanted me to try it because she thinks I'm ready but doesn't want to risk having to be induced because she knows how much I was my water birth. I have lost my mucous plug two weeks ago as well. I was 2 1/2 and bleed quite a bit this morning which she says is dilating more. It seems so close but I took it at 1030 and it's 1230 here and still nothing. Ill.keep everyone posted. Hopefully get to meet my little man soon. :)

I've heard if you get diarrhea close to your due date , your body is preparing for the big day! It's close ! Yaya!!

Thanks! I unfortunately have had horrible diarrhea for two weeks now so don't know if it will phase me. I also drink excessive water to try and be able to tell the difference between braxton hicks. Had them since the begining of my third trimester. Hoping it prevents it.

Didn't do anything for me except cause , extreme dehydration put me into false labor and extremely horrid diarrhea:(. If u do by chance go in , you have a stronger chance of pooping while giving birth . I almost did just while they checked my cervix .! Then they sent me home at 2 cm same as when I went in ...epic fail here , mother of twin boys and two girls :) , good luck either way!

I know that. IDK why I'm such a worry wart this time around. Meconium aspiration is highest in post date babies because of stress and decreased oxygen. I am hoping it's effective. I just was curious about others experiences. I happy to hear you midwife says the same. I love my midwife and she is amazingly rated so I do trust her just let my nerves get the best of me.

I'm having contractions they just keep going away. I'm hoping it will just push it over the top. I can't actually be induced if I want to do a water birth. I'm getting nervous because my mom's first was early, second and third were a week or two late. The second was 8'11, required a episiotomy, and had to be rushed off to be rescucitated.

sadly im a ftm so cant give you any first hand experience  or advice  but i think its safe. my midwife and i have spoken  about it. i think in cases where meconium aspiration has occured the baby was in distress prior and it was just coincidence.and like you said everyone  says i know someone who this happened to a friend of a friend. good luck mama hope it works and your holding your little  one in no time!

I tried it with my first pregnancy since I was almost a week over due. It didn't do anything for me. I tried everything I could think of. My son still took 3-4 more days to come and they had to induce me.
