MedHelp Closing

MedHelp.org will cease operations on May 31, 2024. After that date, the site will be frozen in read-only mode for a short time before it is completely decommissioned. The decision to cease MedHelp.org operations was a business determination that was not made lightly. We regret that we will be unable to continue with you on your health journey. We will miss you and wish you all the best.

* If you would like to save any content (posts, journals, pics from your profile, etc.), please do so before the site is completely decommissioned (shuts down).

UPDATE: May 31, 12:50 PM ET - MEDHELP IS NOW READ ONLY.

It has been an honor and a pleasure. We will miss you.

Emily, Kirstie and Sara.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Emily, Kirstie and Sara: I have greatly enjoyed working with you. I worked with Cindy Thompson during the early days to establish an Eye Forum that was initially sponsored by the American Academy of Ophthamology.  That was abaout 2007. The longest lasting responding ophthalmologist were Dr. Michael Kutryb  and myself. I just looked and i have close to 10,000 questions abswered and 34,000 comments.  Along the way we have had scores of posters return saying MedHelp.org Eye Forum saved their eyes, their vision and in some instances their life. Based on data gleaned from this website a couple of research papers have been published that are still cited in research.  Since there is no cost to posters it is also fair to say that free access to physicians has saved millions of dollars for patients.  I have thanked Ron-AKA and Mr. Presley and Night Hawk Guy our most regular responders.  Anyway blessings to all, don't take your sight for granted regularly see an optometrist or better yet a MD ophthalmologist.   John C. Hagan III, MD

Thanks, Dr. Hagan. We appreciate all you've done for MedHelp, and for so, so many. You've dedicated and donated so much time to MedHelp, and I appreciate it, and I know Cindy does, too.

Wishing you all the best, and thank you.

Oh no!  I thought I finally found a place to get some answers to some of my medical questions.  I get so tired of googling my issues only to get sent on a wild goose chase.  Is there any other sites you can recommend for people like me who have multiple issues?

I have found there are a number of good Facebook groups. For me, the pancreatic cancer ones are a wealth of good info and shared experiences.
2 June will make 9 years post surgery for me, no sign of cancer since.
Inspire.com has a lot of forums for different health topics, too.

Wishing you both all the best.

I'm so going to miss this site. I know things must change eventually though.

I've been here a long time, hope I can find something close to this and if you happen to know and would recommend, please advise.

Thank you for all you've done here!

Oh, we'll miss you, too.

All we know of right now is FB groups, but if that changes, we'll certainly let you know. :)

Take care!
Duplicating an internal message sent to Auntiejessie:

Sorry to learn MedHelp is closing down. You probably know that Dr. Edward W. Hook III, FNP Terri Warren, and I -- whose services here were terminated by MedHelp several years ago -- remain available to answer questions on STIs and HIV at www.askexpertsnow.com, a forum run by the American Sexual Health Association. Within whatever policies or limits MedHelp might require, feel free to inform users of MedHelp's STI/HIV forum.

Hi Dr. Handsfield -

We can certainly let users know that. Hope you are doing well!

We have sent your data.

Thank you for your kind words. We are grateful that you've trusted us as a health resource for so long.

There are so many health apps now. Several different sites rank them, so you can research which ones are best to meet your needs. I wish we could continue, but I'm sure you'll find something.

Don't forget to save things from your profile - pics, journals, etc. We'd hate for you to lose any of it.

Thanks again!

My thanks to you and the rest of Team Med Help, I was most active in the Cat Community, but found useful info in the heart  and cancer related ones.
I joined in 2008 shortly after I got a pacemaker. Looked for cancer info after I survived pancreatic in mid-2015.
I liked sharing recipes, too.

OH Emily Jade just told me the bad news! I'm so upset. If you remember me this was my home since about 2007, There are people who have forgotten their password and have a new email. Is there any help for them?  I am so sorry I haven't been here. Life got in the way, then the Pandemic. Much love to you Emily for all of your hard work. This site saved people's  lives.  I wish there was a way to keep MH going for all of the people who need it. Especially all the Long Covid patients who number in the millions, plus Lyme, Sickle Cell, Surgical failure. Love Dee

I wish we could keep it going - I really, really do. Thank you for your kind words, though.

If someone has forgotten their login info, they can click on About Us at the top of every page, and then "Help" or "Contact Us" at the bottom of the page.

They don't have to be logged in to see those.

I'm so glad Jade told you, and that you heard about this before we closed. I sent you a PM, but wasn't sure you got it.
