Living with HIV: 5 Things Women Should Know

Practice Safe Sex

Practice Safe Sex

It is critical that women who are HIV positive and sexually active practice safe sex. Using protection not only decreases your chance of contracting another sexually transmitted disease, but it also decreases the chance that you'll pass HIV to your partner. Even if both you and your partner are HIV positive, you still need to use protection. There are many different strains of HIV, and you could infect each other with a new, possibly drug-resistant strain of the virus. Women with HIV should use a latex condom every time they have vaginal, anal or oral sex.
