Living surrounded by parks and green space was linked with a 25% lower risk of depression, according to a study in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health. But you don't have to sell your house and move to the country. Simply seeking out a park to walk in instead of pounding the pavement (or worse, hitting the treadmill) is beneficial for your brain. Kick it up to a brisk stroll and this one's a double whammy — exercise alone has been shown to be as powerful as drugs at fighting depression.
