Stress can directly affect the way your skin looks too. The stress hormone cortisol tells your skin to produce more oil, which is why people tend to break out whenever they're anxious (as if you didn't have enough to worry about!). Prolonged or constant stress can also weaken your immune system, which makes existing skin conditions like rosacea or eczema more likely to flare up.
