I'm on a combination therapy as well (steroid+long acting bronchodilator) 1600ug pulmicort/day + 36 ug Oxeze/day. I'm not on a typical long term dosage for most asthmatics. I'm certain that your dosage of Advair will go down, once your airways are stabilized. Your doc will find the lowest dose required to give control of your asthma. You may not need to be on any inhalers on the long term basis, just now and again. I guess you don't suffer mild attacks, as you don't have albuteral (rescue med)?

Hi, unless you're 50 years old and have been smoking your whole life, then I wouldn't worry about COPD. Another test is if you cough up mucous on a daily basis and it clears up on your asthma inhalers, then it is very indicative of asthma. COPD has a different type of mucous that doesn't really respond to asthma inhalers. Even with my asthma I cough up mucous every day despite inhalers, but I think that is due to airway damage, and I have never smoked.
