Hi Joanna the only cure back then was the fusion with titanium rods but things have moved on a pace since then. Im a firm believer in leaving well alone until it needs treatment if your son is not in daily pain. Scar tissue occurs from any op and causes probs on its own. The op was horrendous i had 6months off work and was in agony for a long time and wore a hard plastic corset affair for those 6months. It worked and did the trick but i would advise thinking long and hard before deciding on a course of action. Mine slipped severely quite fast so i spose i had little choice in the end, but had been born with it and got into my 30s before it needed treatment.
best wishes Rachel

Hi Joanne I had the operation bout 11 years ago and it cured me completely. Have upper back pain now but that is unrelated. It is quite a traumatic op and i waited as long as i could for mine. In the end the slippage was too great and i had to give in. If your son is not in daily pain i would say wait, and obviously be aware of activities not to undertake as you are already. best wishes and good luck !!
