Do you have any information about lactoferrin, inositol, calcium, or desferal causing side effects in hcv+ patients? My iron level is higher than normal but not too scary. I am not on tx yet. I am dieting in prep for tx, including taking certain supplements. I don't see why I shouldn't take some iron-depletion supplements too if they won't hurt me.
I might have to do a phlebotomy pre-tx if my doctor wants me to, but right now I just want to get my iron level down with diet and supps. Anything wrong with that?

If there are more natural ways of lowering iron, I'd rather use them than puncture myself with blood-letting (phlebotomy). But it may be the only way to get enough iron out.
