Hi. My westie is now 16.5 years old. He is nearly blind, nearly deaf but his body in general is doing ok. He still eats and drinks lots and chases cats in the garden. My vet said he is the equivalent of a 90 year old human riding a bike in the olympics. He was amazed at how much movement he has in his limbs for that age.
Jerry -- does your pulse oximeter give you a good readout? I am finding it difficult to get a readout. I may be because my heart rate is so high during this afib episode. It has bounced around between 30 (yikes!) and 150-180. It takes forever and I don't trust that I'm getting a good reading. I am off to see the wizard and be cardioverted (I hope successfully) one more time. I am going back on the Norpace CR and looking into an ablation at Ohio State University -- apparently they are doing the FIRM procedure developed by Dr. Narayan in California. Hope this finds you well. It is getting hot here again, altho we had snow on Mother's Day:P
Just a quick note to say hi! i've been reading your posts, jerry, about your wife. I will pray for you both. She sounds like she has such a positive outlook and you have been such a good supporter. Keep strong!
Just a quick note to say hi!
Hi Jerry - I was reading the posts regarding your wife's lung nodules. I noticed you mentioned HMC. I live in Hunterdon County and am always at or in the hospital.
Hope that you and your wife are doing ok.
Just a quick note to say hi! Not sure if I told you I am in Southern California originally from New Jersey. Glad to hear your wife is doing well with the treatments she is receiving. How is your week going? Julie
JERRY, just a quick note to say hi! And thanks for your advice on trimming my Beagle, Zach,'s nails... I certainly intend on trying all of the advice given to me. Hope you're day is a going GREAT!!!!
Just a quick note to say hi! Hi. Hope I am doing this right, not really used to this site. Never tried to put up an avatar, I have enough issues with FB! I am glad if I am able to help anyone. I think, collectively, we all learn from each other and, luckily, we have a few of us with some years of experience. Karla is a great help and more clinical than I am. Sorry, but you with that Westie crack me up sometimes. Sometimes it is hard to give advice when you aren't actually there to see what is going on. This is a pretty good forum but some of these people have no business owning pets! Take care.
Thank you for caring! I am hoping for a miracle, but I think I should go for the botillium again and atleast then I have 2 months of relief and maybe in about 4 months or so I'll go and see the 2nd opinion and then at least I know I've tried all the other options.
Have a great weekend :)
Jerry -- just read an article on stopafib.org about cryo-ablation with a balloon that is working for persistent cases of afib. I thought you might want to check it out.
Just a quick note to say hi! Hi Jerry. I always like to read your posts for insight. Hope you are doing well these days.
Hi Jerry. Thanks so much for your note. I am sorry to hear about your son's bouts with depression...but glad to hear he's finished his schooling :) My son is now 22 and still on the medical track. He had taken some time off, after my dad passed and is now back and doing quite well. As for my daughter...we had to take her to the ER in Aug for her SVT. She complains a few times a week about the "racing" heart. Her pedi cardio is thinking that an ablation is in her future. Will let you know if this ends up being the plan. Hope all is well in your corner of the world.
Thank you for yr acceptance to be a friend. Hope this finds you in good health. I have been "ok" since the ablation in April but had some signs of recurrence lately. Need to see my EP frequently of late. Take care n warm regards Jerry.
Thanks for your note Jerry...Not much has changed on my end...as a matter of fact, my 15 year old daughter was dx with SVT in March. I haven't been too active here for sometime but try and stop by when I can. Hope you are well.
Thank you so much for the Note, it means a lot.... It hurts so much but I know one day I will get to see him again xox
Hi there! How are you feeling and doing?
Thanks for your valuable guidence. But My elder brother is now in Canada. His doctor says that it is more or less neuro problem. what we should do ? Kindly guide. He has dizziness & tiredness and havy head. do oblige and guide me.
Just a quick note to say hi!
Thanks, Jerry, I should check my notes more often. I'm a flyfisherman for trout and Steelhead, which are rainbow trout that goes to the sea and comes back up the rivers large (up to twenty pounds) and mean. I'm hoping to get back to fishing for them, my wife clamped down on me but bypass surgery has me feeling really frisky. Thanks for the note.
I was just wondering what BB you are on and if it made you feel lousy (like I did last week). The 25mg metaprolol didn't bother me but the 50mg knocked the heck out of me!
Hi ..... I just wanted to let you know that I have posted Part 1, Sections 1 and 2 of my ablation experiences on MedHelp. Hope you are having a great day! Jannie
Just a quick note to say hi! I know i'm in A fib as i get a sensation of not being able to breathe properly. When i take my pulse it is not regular, it will beat irregularly, also when an ecg is done there is no p waves that is confirmed A Fib I was just doubtful that it may be another heart problem and not A fib, but the more people i'm talking to the more i'm realising A Fib is slow, fast or an irregular heart beat not giving out P waves on an ecg.
check the following link out it was very helpfull to me
Thank you Jerry for the info, Connie has some great advice & suggestions about posting.
I try and treat each person the same way on the forum as I would in person and I can only hope others do the same.
Happy Thanksgiving! Just wanted to stop by and say I hope you have a great Thanksgiving Day!
Thank you for responding to my question on the 15th, regarding my ablation 10 weeks ago. I thought I answered the 4 people that responded but I haven't heard back from anyone so I probably didn't answer in the right place. You asked what I had the ablation for and I wanted to clarify. It was for pvcs that medicine no longer works for. I do not have a pacemaker (someone asked me that). My local cardiologist put me on a cardionet starting yesterday. Last night my heart was skipping all over the place so they will get an interesting read. I have lost hope that the ablation worked and found this site. Thank you so much for responding. Mockingbird
Thank you for everything!
Just a quick note to say hi! Thanks for recommending those books for me to read. I love reading and haven't read a good book in a while. I think its just what I need right now..something to take my mind far, far away from my constant worries. Thanks. Hope ur well :)
Thanks for editing my posts for me. I thought I was leaving the second question for the Ask an Expert side so thanks. G-ma904
Thank you for thoughtful note! Yes, I turned 41 this past March :) I'm still struggling and have the best Cardio/EP in the country constantly investigating the latest and best way to treat my "uncooperative" heart. LOL Still have my sense of humor, as I'd be lost without it! Hope you are well and I'm glad to be back!
Just a quick note to say hi Jerry! Thank you for dropping me a note last month...I am sorry that I hadn't sent you an update sooner than this...I only wish there was something more than "status quo" to update you with. It's been a hellish year for me and I am pretty tired most of the time. I hope that you are doing well :)
I am back from Cleveland Clinic and I have to have an ablation surprise; I will have the ablation done on March 31 2010. Oh Jerry, keep me in your prayers for I am very scared!!!! Heather
