hi! can you help me interpret my lab test? I am scheduled to see a doctor on monday... and I can wait for the interpretation...iam hbsag reactive, my anti HBE is reactive and my HBeag - non reactive. wat does it mean? would you know? im also scared for the results. i am just waiting for my med clearance (as a pre employment req).

k I got the results in the mail. it says:
hepatitis b surface AB, Qual
Hepatitis B surface antibody reactive
hep B core AB Non-reactive
But heres the thing it says reactive under the out of range category???? and the reference range is non reactive???? This is just too confusing!!! Help???

Okay so I just found out she is a doctors assistant but when I spoke with her yesterday she said that they are not liver specialists, Because the doctor who ordered his blood work was an ear nose throat specialist, she told me that the hep b surface antibody was reactive. So I guess that means he is clear or had an infection before and it has gone away??? She said she could not discuss the results with me she could only inform me of what they were. But I think she saw positive next to the word hep b and told my husband that he had it, because she did not know what the hell she was reading and now she is trying to cover her tracks! either way I think I like the result. Thanks for all your help!

Well thank you for responding. I am expecting all of his results by mail here in a couple days, I will be sure to post them so maybe you can give me some more insight! I appreciate it. Oh his drinking is done now, as of three weeks ago. before then I would say he had a beer or two, 3 times a week, and got wasted probably once every 2 weeks. Do you know what the receptionist would tell him he has hepatitis b if he doesnt???
