Hi Hon!!!  I have been reading your posts and feel so bad!  I know the frustration you must be feeling. I had numerous problems back in 2002..but after so many darn tets because I too choked on my food and had severe panic attacks out of the blue..they found I had Hyperthyroidism..no goiter, just what they called a tumor. You could actually see it when I swallowed water! But had it surgically removed in 2002 and things are better.  I shall keep you in my thoughts!!!!

Everyone should look at life as its only a one time purchase so keep looking forward because if for one second you look back a year will pass without you knowing.  I know you have some problems but you will be your normal self again once God feels you look at everyday like its your last and treat it like its a gift not a privledge not saying you do that now, you probably appreciate everyday.  Don't let anything get in the way of happiness, keep your head up sweetie

I work in medical sales, selling equipment to hosptials.  Do you live at the college?  What do you like to do for fun when you find time in between school.  I love to watch movies and play sports, to relax I like to just lay around on the weekends, and I love to get massages.

Oh thanks J so much for your kind encouragement!

Sorry for delay ---this past week I hit the icy sun drenched slopes of Austria; perfect tonic to not think about anything TT related (a scary world in itself for newbies!) but holidays always have to end sadly -- and sometimes with a thump; Mr. Suave had thoughtfully sent a letter for my return encouraging me to not leave 'it' too long, but as I can see the twinkle in his eye in his signature, am not going to wince too much at his reminder of my predicament---- laundry for 6 perfect tonic for that!!

Hope you are having a good day. xx

Thanks. You might be right. I am still going to see someone. I am going to try a different medication too. I have heard that prozac works for those symptoms. I know a ton of people on it. I need to talk to someone cause its been 29 year of this. But I think your right the grieving is because im getting better.

Good.  Glad you are feeling somewhat better.  Don't forget when you go for more testing that you should insist they test for  free T3 with free T4 and TSH as the next most important.  Too many docs use TSH as the most important test and prescribe med. accordingly.  Free T3 is the active component that regulates metabolism and needs to be in the upper third of its range.   Don't let them stop short of that, if you really want to be at your best.    Sometimes this requires a T4/T3 med. such as Armour thyroid, rather than a T4 only type such as Synthroid.  Sorry if any of this is redundant, but I write so many responses, I sometimes forget what details I previously provided.  Best to you.

Just wanted to check in and see how you are doing.  When is the next doctor visit and more testing?  Have you been checking your normal temperature to see how it compares to the optimal of 98.6?

Sorry, forgot to give you the link.  http://www.drrind.com/tempgraph.asp
Keep in mind for the next visit to doctor, the importance of free T3 and push to get that done.  Some people's bodies do not adequately convert T4  to T3, so you can sometimes have a condition, such as I have had myself, where the doc kept increasing my T4 med. until my TSH was below the low limit, but I did not get the benefit I should have, because of this problem of conversion.  Only after checking free T3 did we figure out what was happening.  Now I am on a med. that is both T4 and T3 and it is being increased until my free T3 level  gets into the upper third of the range.  Free T3 is the component that regulates metabolism, so that is why you need to know its level, not just depend on TSH and T4 testing.

Yes, two weeks is not long enough to really determine the effect.  While waiting you might find interesting this link about using body temperature to determine the state of your metabolism/thyroid.  Also, what tests are the doctor using to decide on your medication level and when to stop increasing.  The very best way is to test for free T3 and free T4, and TSH.  Free T3 is the most important because it is the most active component of thyroid hormone.  It largely regulates your metabolism.  For best results the free T3 needs to be in the upper third of its range, while the TSH should be in the low end of its range.  Don't let the doc adjust your medication strictly based on TSH  alone.  That won't give you the best result.

Just a quick note to say hi!  I was sorry to hear that you are so depressed over having hypothyroidism.  Have you given the forum members any details of your test results, etc.?  There are a lot of very experienced people who monitor this site and are able to relate their own situations and give some good advice.  I have been a hypo t person for over 30 years.  Once I got properly diagnosed and medicated, I have been fine.  I'm positive you can have similar results, it just may take a little time to get there.

That's the spirit.  I know it's hard when you don't feel well and want something to work right now, but a lot of meds do take quite a while - maybe you will start seeing results soon.  Hang in there.
