I noted that when I looked up the word drop in heart rate your post came up with Dyautonomia
In your post.
by tickertock, Jan 12, 2007 12:00AM
Vasovagal,POTS. I'm not a doctor but a tilt table test could probably answer ?s to some of your symptoms. Dysautonomia syndromes can be difficult treat, though symptoms range from mild to severe.
My 15 year old son was diagnosed with this along with bradicardia, in Aug last year at Shand's hospital at that time  and tied it  to the abuse of overheating in school and willful denial of water by the school system.   Yesterday my son EEG showed an even lower rate from the previous appt. with it dropping to 38 from a previous 44 the doctor is telling me there cures or research. My son last week collasped and the doctor is not concerned. Suggestions?

Hello there, I see you say you rarely suffer from palps anymore...I have been diagnosed with PAC's....started two weeks ago today.  I've had a holter, echo, and treadmill test...everything has came back fine but I get them quite often at times... 5-6 a minutes it feels like.  What a roller coaster of a ride!  What steps did you take to get rid of them?  The cardiologist I saw prescribed me 25mg of atenolol once a day but I have never been on a beta blocker and my pluse rate isn't high and my blood pressure has always been around 120/80 so I'm afraid to take it in fear those two normal things will be lowered.  Any advice would be much appreciated...take care!

Just a quick note to say hi!

Thanks for the response.  I think you will find AS pain will decrease as you get older. You will still be pretty stiff, but once the damage is done, the pain leaves.  I took Vioxx for AS relief and believe it had a role in my heart troubles.  I went through an incredibly aggressive CAD period but that has leveled out.

Belieze is a beautiful place, I've been there, and my brother is there now on a diving vacation.  Have a great trip.

Just a quick note to say hi!

Hello, Hank.  Nice to see you post.  Trust all is well in paradise and with your AS.  As the research showed, once the damage was done I've had very little pain in my 'golden years' (I'm almost 70).  I trust your heart is doing OK.

I'm up to eight stents and a pacemaker and several small MI's but still exercising, still thriving.  I do think my heart disease was hastened by aggressive use of Vioxx, taken for my AS, but that's a hard call.

Take care.

Thanks Hank. Go to oldways.org for an excellent OLD food take guide. Beers can be less and light, Like Dr.OZ says"It's not your weight measruement but your waist measurement".AND.....for every 35 lbs you lose you not only lose weight measurement, but you gain an inch to your penis.(actually you loose omentum fat). Hope you have a sense of humor!!!  Too late now after my comment.  Joan.

Tickertock:my condolences to you on your loss especially when this may have been prevented. Don't kick yourself too badly over his lack of following advice, at least not for long. My brother did not listen to me either 2 years ago; he died from a massive MI. His first mild one was at 29. He was scared, in denial, and just tired of recurring signs. I will respond to this lady as I was resusitated back from the dark. Again, my sincere condolences. Joan.

Just a quick note to say hi! You made the PVC pacemaker response before I did!! Hope all is decent with you.I think that it is difficult for un-medical people to asborb all info given to them. Which is why I'm an advocate for a person to go to the doctor with you when it starts getting complicated for them. Just among our circle of friends I see alot of mis-interpreted or vague info given to people who  then don't follow medical direction. I usually get a help call when it means another visit back to the doctor! Keep up the good work; I'm on week 9 of increasing direction toward cardiomyopathy with more chest pain etc. and I can't get involved in some of these discussions. Have a good day. Joan.

Hi. I was doing some searching and see your name show up frequently.Your answers are very good and to the point. I thought you had some type of medical background and see by your profile that you retired from a medical establishment. I am a RN by training, but now retired.I did have a chance to spend a month's holiday in the Caymans. I am on this site just seeking out people with confirmed diagnosis of cardiac microvascular dysfunction with vasospasm. This dx is not good!! Read about me here at joanincarolina. Keep up good responses...you have more patience than I do and I am amazed at how people get worked up about 'what might be'. Thanks.
