nly for three (3) months. If you have this virus I would highly suggest, unless your doctor tells you otherwise, to wait until this has been approved and on the market. I, as well as many others believe that the long-term side-effects from the Interferon/ Ribavirin can, in some people, far out way the benefits of the cure.
A little about me. I found out I had Hep C back in 2000. My doctor believes I received the virus from a blood transfusion I had back in 1977, although I did get a tattoo in 1979, so you never really know for sure. My genotype is 3a or 3b, and I went through Interferon/ Ribavirin for six (6) months back in 2007 and it failed. Very disappointing because within a few weeks of starting treatment I was undetectable for the virus and it remained this way up through the four (4) month after finishing the treatment. Of course, the true test is six months after treatment and when I went back at the six (6) month mark I was showing again that I had the Hep C virus. I would absolutely not ever do this treatment again. It was by far the worse thing I have had to go through. I could handle the hair loss I had, being sick from the shot, fever, body aches, and dry skin, but how the treatment effected me mentally was the worse.
