can do more than many quadriplegics get to because of my state of mind wasn't downhill but for a little amount of time because I wanted to be the best Mom I could be and put stuff aside like depression and unhealthy habits and forced myself to join different nursing home for wound, physical, and occupational therapy purposes being the main reason because I had to take care of myself to be there for my son as my support with family lacked terribly & I had nobody to depend on for years except for family, which, didn't do well for me. I did have some good help from family, which still warms my heart today! I'm now much better in mind and body and spirit, as I've met someone who loves me unconditionally, always gets my son on my weekends and makes sure we do things as a family and has really changed my son and my life these past 6-7 plus years. God's answered my prayers, & without Him, I wouldn't be here today as doctors & surgeons who saw me come in on Life Flight helicopter said it was a miracle that I was even alive. I only remember laying face-down on the grassy shoulder of the highway, screaming out for someone to please get me up, and that I had to go get my baby from the babysitter, which was from all the shock because CT scans showed no signs of brain damage. That day, I was going to go straight home and take an hour nap before getting my then 6 mos 3 wk old son from the babysitter's because I was too exhausted to drive with him that day and for that reason, I left work an hour early. I don't remember any pain while I was in-and-out of consciousness either. I just remember wanting to get up so bad because I wanted to go get my baby boy--I had no clue or no thoughts about why I was laying down face-down on the side of the road. I did, I apologize, remember grass stained pains on my palms, actually, like what you feel when you slide down on the ground on your belly. So weird, I know!! So many surgeries: 2 for bladder stones, 1 for kidney stones, neck surgery, tracheaostomy, skin graph and muscle flap, biopsy of my cervix, suprapubic catheter put in one and a half months post accident, & more.
