About Me: Male, 36, Apex , NC, member since Dec 2009
I have been living trapped in my own head for as long as I can remember. All I want is to be able to do things like a normal person and have the things that a normal person has like a meaningful job and someone to be close to. I like to exercise and and be active whenev
[More]er I can. If I can get my medication and general emotional problems under control then I'd love to go back and finish school. One step at a time though.
Have you heard of DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy)?
Earlier this year I started seeing a life coach to help me with my ADHD & the office has a DBT group that I've been sitting in with to help deal with my own anxiety and it's been very helpful. Although I don't suffer with BPD, all the others in the group have been diagnosed with it and they find that DBT is helping them. Might be worth looking into for you. I think it would be specifically helpful to be in a group setting where others are experiencing the same issues that you are - helps to know you're not alone.
We can't change what we're born into, but we can learn to deal with what we're given,. It's not always easy but at the young age of 25 you've got MANY years of happiness ahead of you; don't give up!
No Problem. I know how hard it is to find another who really understand what BPD is about. You often get responses like "I know what you mean, I feel that way too" but they don't actually have a clue as to the effects BPD has on a life, due to the instabilty and emotional intensity of this disorder. Feel free to contact me for any questions about BPD. I can't promise I'll have the answers but I may be able to tell what doesn't work as I have many failures that have taught me things. Stay Strong!
