About Me: Male, 29, Burbank, CA, member since Mar 2013
I have been struggling with chronic constipation for 3 years now. I had central spinal chord syndrome in 2010 and then a series of broken tail bone problems in 2010, 2011 and 2012. Ever since these impacts on my spine I have not been able to produce a normal BM. I have
[More] always eaten healthy, as a matter of fact my doctor told me I am too healthy for a normal teenager and I shouldn't be this concerned. I exercise regularly, ran cross country all 4 years of high school and still keep up with that. I also do yoga, stretches, physical therapy, snowboarding and love to hike and be outside with my dog. I do eat gluten, I've never done an elimination diet to see if I had food allergies. To stress how intense my constipation is their was a period of time where I had not produced a BM in 2 months (7 weeks exactly). I was hospitalized and it still took me time to pass a stool (I was clearly compacted) even after all of the thousands of medicine and enemas they gave me. I had a colonoscopy last year and they said nothing was noticeably wrong with me. I have to take 2 cap fulls of miralax a day with 1/2 bottle of magnesium cirtrate and even then i get backed up. Then I have used strong laxatives but those have stopped working all together no matter how many I take. I wish doctors would do something about it but all they have told me is, "you're just going to have to deal with it." Well screw that! I do not want to live like this. I can't bring miralax and magnesium overnight with me or too a bar and i have to have it. it's just so crazy they can't come up with a real solution. I'm so frustrated ! This constipation problem has also made me have chronic headaches and migraines, miss school, gain 40 pounds and basically want to die.
