I need to calm down. But differently

Ok, I've got ADHD, I don't know if I have it bad or not. I used to be hyper, silly, etc. which was slightly annoying but it didn't get in the way too much. But it's sort of transformed now, into me thinking things over too much, maybe it's me being so uptight about keeping a lid on the hyperactivity that I think too much. But it means i try to change my personality when i'm around friends so i don't annoy them and end up making things worse. And i get paranoid about things i shouldn't like that everything people say to me has a deeper meaning and it's messing up my social life.
I need to calm down, not via pills, i took 36mg of concerta a while back and it made me suicidal. Took lesser doses and it still happened. Hence me having this slight grudge against anything I stick down my throat that is designed to change me at all.
Any advice, techniques etc would be much appreciated. Especially seeing as the only other technique I've heard that helps calm ADHD kids down is Weed.

Weeeell, I guess that after your first firefight as a marine - your ADHD would be cured one way or the other.
On a more serious note - there is a lot of good stuff out there to help with ADHD.  One of the best websites I have found for adult help is -
        http://helpguide.org/mental/adhd_add_adult_symptoms.htm
Make sure that you scroll down to the "treatment therapy" part.

One other thought is that 36mgs of concerta is a load to take the first time.  I have seen posts by other adults (mainly grad students) that take a very small dose as needed for tests, etc.  I am not advocating the use of meds at all, but it sounds like you got some bad initial advice (along with the bad vibes).
  Hope this helps.  Best wishes.

yeah my parents hardly neglected me, I'm frankly a well behaved kid. And I'm sorry but joining the marines isn't on my list of dream jobs to be honest

Structure, discipline and execise.  You don't have to join the military to impose structure in your life, you can do that yourself.  You can also discipline yourself, too.  Start long-distance running, that will calm you down for sure.  I do long-distance running and swimming 5-6 days a week and it does wonders for me!  I've learned to impose my own structure/discipline, though I was in the Army for 4 years a while back.

You're problem is simple.  You lack structure and discipline in your life.  Your parents most likely neglected you and let you run wild.  So you must face the fact you need self - discipline, not drugs.  Join the Marines.  In the old days a man would say you need a swift kick in the *** and a good hard job to make a man out of you.   And don't let anyone stamp you with the lable of "ADHD."
