Is there any harm in asking doctor for a add/adhd test in adult life?

I'm 28, was diagnosed with depression as a young teen, so been on rollercoaster ride for a while now... I feel like I'm getting worse especially with my mood these days. Just wondering is there any harm in going to a doctor just to get ADHD test done? I'm not a doctor I just feel like I'm lacking more concentration and lack of motivation, most days I can't be bothered doing anything and I hate been lazy.... Can some one help please? If u need more info shoot me a question and I can answer as best as I can.

My mood is always up and down I'm always cranky or sad I hate life at times.... I'm new to this site, I know there are trolls out there and keyboard warriors so I will stick with the positive input I'm so over negativeness....

There is no harm in, "in going to a doctor just to get ADHD test done".  Well, unless the doctor is just a general MD and has no clue....in which case you could wind up feeling like an idiot... when he is the idiot.  And, in finding the right doctor...you just might change your life.
Depression (along with anxiety) are the two most common disorders of adhd/add.  I would guess that you made good grades in school, but probably felt like you should have been doing even better?
Anyway, here is one of the links I have to adult ad/hd.  And I have several more if you are interested.  The link is .....https://helpguide.org/articles/add-adhd/adhd-attention-deficit-disorder-in-adults.htm
and the site above has several other really good materials on adult adhd/add.

But back to the doctor issue for a bit.  I would try and find a doctor that advertises treating adhd.  A psychologist or psychiatrist would be my first choice.

And YES, go for it.  I have seen adults get life changing answers.   What has been kind of interesting to me has been that many times it is the parent getting help for their child and in doing the research going, "wait a minute, thats what is happening to me".  Many times these adults are in their late 30's and had no clue why they felt like they did.

Let me know if you have any questions.  I have lots of resources.  And do let me know what happens (and just keep in mind that even today...some doctors still have no clue).   Best wishes.
