What is it called when you feel like everything around you is moving slowly?

I am a 21-year-old female with Severe ADHD & Severe Social-phobia (Social Anxiety) who has been experiencing these spells on and off for years now. When these (what I call) "Slow Spells" hit, they hit hard. The "Slow Spells" seem to happen whenever my ADHD medication kicks in, but they don't usually last long. Everything I do seems to be at a snail's pace (even if I am actually moving at normal speed). The longest one I've had lasted about 2 hours (it felt like forever). The most recent one I've had, made me feel really uncomfortable; I felt like everything I was doing was slowing down to a stand still and that the world around me was speeding along at high velocity. I also felt like my fingertips were fatter and covering multiple keyboard keys at once, and I had a major sense of fear for some reason.

Please help me out with any advice you have!

The medication may well be the problem.  A time release medication will release an initial smaller amount.  A non time release will give you a much bigger starting jolt.  So if you are on either Ritalin or Adderall - non time release - ask your doc to try the same med in a time release medication.   If you are already on a time release, then perhaps talk to you doc about it.  You might be slightly over medicated.

All meds have a length of duration.  If the med is lasting longer then it should - it is a sign of overmedication.  This chart will give you length of duration for most medications.

Hope this helps.  Please let me know if you need any more info.  Best wishes.
