12 Step

I have been clean for 6 weeks today!!! I attended a 3 day detox. I havent gonr for counceling or meetings because I have some problems with the whole 12 step thing....Example #1 "A moral invantory" What the heck is that? Am I suppose to sit and think of how gorrible i have spent the past 5 years neglecting my 3 kids and husband? I hate the idea of a open group session but I am reading the NA lit to try and understand it....Any Ideas

Hi there congrats on the 6 weeks !!  I know the 4th step is scary and confusing. I also thought it was like a true confessions of a monster type step.... but that's not what I was told to do by the "old timere"  The nature of our defects. Not each sin against others or ourselves. Like one of my repeat offenders is lying to myself. Or dishonest about my intentions when doing for others I may only really be doing something for them because there is something in it for me. Late for appointments. etc. etc. etc.
As far as getting clean from pills. I did it here, without going to meetings in person. I do have a long history of A.A meetings so I am familiar with the steps.
Keep up the good work!!

Fabulous about being clean for 6 weeks!!!  Some people don't do as well in 12-step programs.  Maybe just being here will help you.  But, you'd be better posting in the Substance Abuse Addiction Community rather than here in the social area.

WTG!!!
