CELEBRITY REHAB!

I know ALOT of celebrities have struggled with addiction... Let's talk about them... Maybe you know of some that I don't and vice versa... As we know , not all celebrities  who struggled with addiction won.. A few that we lost to the horrible disease AMY WINEHOUSE, MJ, WHITNEY HOUSTON,  and many more...
Its sad and it just goes to show you that ADDICTION doesn't discriminate!! It affects people from ALL WALKS OF LIKE! Doesn't care if your rich or poor, old or young, college educated or HS drop out... No one is immune...
Anyways, I thought we could discuss celebs, their addictions, what we learned, thought, felt about it... Etc...

Don't forget Mindy McCready.  She was on Celebrity Rehab in 09, only to commit suicide last Feb.

Oh, missed that Connie. Glad you saw that, you would have loved that event. Jackson Brown, Tracey Chapmen, Grateful Dead, Bobby McRerren, Journey, Robin Williams, I can't even remember all the people who showed up to remeber Bill Graham, hell of a biker, devil of a businessman.

I read through this and only know who Whitney Houston even is. I did hear Neil Young at Bill Graham's memorial in Golden Gate Park. Neil was craving dope and had a show coming up. He went to Bill asking for a front of cash on the next show. Bill said he'd pay for rehab, but he wouldn't give him a dime for dope. Neil thanked Bill as his last words of the eulogy. Crosby, Stills and Nash walked on the stage and played Teach Your Children one last time.

I watched a special called "Being Mike Tyson" a couple months ago. He is a totally different person now. Family man concentrating on recovery. His making amends was very special to watch. He traveled back to the prison he did time at to thank the warden.

There were a couple of others on Celebrity Rehab that have passed away.  One other young guy for sure.  I just can't remember but will post when I do.
Leif Garrett was another one really struggling.  I wonder how he's doing?  He looked terrible.

Mike Tyson is in recovery and I've enjoyed watching his story. He's working the steps and everything and has been very public about his struggles.

IBK??????  WHAT??  WHAT???  YOU were in treatment with Eric????
Were you in any small groups together?  Did you get to hear him play during "free" time???  Hahahaha!

On a truly serious note....Eric Clapton is one of the "winners" that I follow...not only because he is one of the best blues guitar players IN THE FRICKIN WORLD....but he has a HUGE heart for giving back to the addict that still suffers.

I read his autobiography that came out in 2007 which is FANTASTIC...(even if you're not an addict and just love his music)......and of course, since 1999 he has been having fundraising events for the treatment center he founded as well as a few of his other recovery ventures.

If you are aware of the Crossroads Guitar Festivals (just had one in 2013) ...they have been occurring every 3 yrs since 2004.....Eric's main labor of love is "Aiding Sobriety, A Chord at a Time".  He invites all these AMAZING guitar players together and a huge majority of the proceeds go to support his treatment center in Antigua. (opened in 1998)

Antigua is a Caribbean Island in the heart of the West Indies.  Eric wanted a safe place...a special refuge....for those who needed treatment...and for those who didn't have the money to be able to receive help....even if it was on a sliding scale.  Here's a short little letter where he tells about his treatment center if you're interested:

http://crossroadsantigua.org/history_letter/

SOOOOOO....that's probably WAY more than you may have wanted to know....but after kicking "H"....Eric then abused alcohol....hence....his story.
I still can't get it outta my head that YOU...IBK...were in dang treatment with HIM?????  And we've even been talking blues, girl...!!!  Just a minor detail that "slipped your mind", eh?  LOLOLOLOL

It was a pretty powerful show.

I loved watching Celebrity Rehab.  I don't know why because I was high when I watched it.
It was terrible when Mike Starr, Jeff Conway and a few others died.
They had huge addictions and battled so hard.  Mike Starr really tried so hard.

David Cassidy was picked up yesterday for his 3rd DUI.

You may not like this but I don't see where it helps to point the finger, celebrity or not. Seeing your name anywhere whether it is well intentioned or not gives you a mental hiccup and a feeling that you are looked down upon. Think about someone pointing the finger at you.
