I need advice

So the dermatology forum is dead so I figured I'd ask this in the social forum. I have been having laser tattoo removal for some time now. My last treatment was 12 days ago and the nurse who did it was new. Well....during the treatment she went slower than the usual nurse and it hurt so bad. It blistered, scabbed, and well...is taking a very long time to heal AND is really red. I followed the aftercare to a T and have called the doc's office who is worthless. "Give it more time"....ok. Well, as I give it more time, I want to know if anybody has any advice on wound care. Like maybe successful OTC scar treatments/creams. Things of that nature. What can I do? I dont need this scarring...I'm already ugly enough. So any advice is welcomed.

BIO OIL!!!

Works for many many things including the terrible scarring they said would be permanent on my right butt cheek after a nasty insect bit me in Mexico.
The aloe and Vit E are good at first but Bio Oil is known to be an eraser.
Hope this helps.

Meant to say years ago (like 15) not year ago. It took a while but I quit the vitamin E after several months.

ABN, you are a loved and respected member of this community no doubt and if we ever had a reunion, I am sure you would win best looking man.  Year ago I was in a pretty bad car accident. AFTER the initial healing from cuts and burns to my face, Vitamin E applied directly to the sacrs was the suggestion by my docs.  The bad news is It didn't make me any better looking but the good news is that I was ugly before.  Today it is honestly difficult to tell that I had such serious damage to my face.

Grinning....ABN!!  No surprise that you hadn't heard of Adelle Davis....she died before you were born....hahaha!!

She was a pioneer in the "nutritional world".....and I went through a time in my life that I read anything and everything I could get my hands on.

Will you be sure and give us some progress reports?  I'm concerned for you and would appreciate knowing if/when you start seeing some healing and improvement.

clean - ALL the nurses are Tony the Tiger Grrrrrreeat. Been VERY helpful....except for the one who did the procedure :( Another nurse actually trained her while doing a treatment on me a few months back. I dont think a face tattoo is a good starting point for anybody.

I never heard of Adelle Davis but I trust you so I will get some Vit E. I started the aloe yesterday.

ariley - I saw the mederma scar cream at the store yesterday when picking up the aloe. The box said dont use on open wounds and I would still consider this one open in many places. That may be my next step after its closed.

Thank you both for the help!

Hey ABN. I agree with all of the great natural suggestions already posted. When I was in my car accident, my arm smashed through the window and I was left with horrible, bright reddish/purple keloid scarring. I used vitamin e and Mederma cream. It's over the counter, but it made a huge difference. The scars faded very quickly. I hope you start to heal soon, and can get this scar to fade a little. Good luck to you!

Evan,.. I don't know if you have ever heard of Adelle Davis (a famous nutritionist)?  She isn't living any longer....but wrote many books that I have in my library.  She has a whole chapter devoted to burns/scars....many VERY severe....she always treated her patients "internally" AND "externally" with all natural Vitamin E......some of the actual testimonies are breath taking and miraculous......a boy that survived a gasoline can explosion..wasn't expected to live....and she treated him and he lived to play football.  She felt it was important to ingest it as well as using it topically.

I feel like Vit E works faster than aloe products....although I had sores all over my back at one time and and I used a gel that has Aloe, Natural Vit E (from mixed tocopherols), Cucumber extract, Allantoin (accelerates cell proliferation, reduces redness and cracking), Panthenol (Provitamin B5),
L-Arginine and Peppermint Oil.  It felt wonderful....and it totally healed my back with no scarring.

Isn't it amazing how much difference a "nurse" makes??  LOL
P.S.  Love to ALL you nurses out there!!!!

Yeah...they gave me the silver sulfadine cream. This was my 8th treatment on this tattoo and it always healed in like 5 days on the other treatments. Its been 12 days now and its still pretty bad. I just dont want it to scar. I guess I just have to be patient.

I have one on my jawline that said "Lord Knows" and have had 8 laser treatments on it. This last one a new nurse did it and she burned me pretty bad. Also, Im having my ex wife's name on my neck removed. I might just get it covered since its light enough now. It will be cheaper for sure.

So you need some more tattoos? Do you plan on getting them?

The most important thing is infection control so keep it covered until healed. Ask the doctor's office to call in or fax and RX for Silvadene Cream. It works great and it's very soothing. It goes on easily because it's fluffy and soft. You definitely need this.

Are you taking Motrin for inflammation? It should heal but it's going to take some time; it sounds like a pretty deep burn...

Sorry this happened to you-

Maybe go to the Health food store and see what they come up with..Other wise I am sure there are many ointments out at the stores too.
I am so sorry to hear that this one was so hard to deal with. How many have you removed so far??lol

Thanks Vic and jugglin :)

Yeah...I did research but some things you just want to hear from friends on what worked for them. Most the research I did came up with companies trying to promote there products so I wanted to hear from people who may have found something that worked for them or someone they know.

This tattoo removal has been expensive, painful, and frustrating. The last thing I need is some burn scars.

I ditto Vicki...both regarding the Aloe Vera and the Handsome Man comments.  When my husband had a pretty decent burn from soldering, his doctor told him to use Bacitracin Zinc Ointment.  Good luck!

Hi Guy!  I do like Aloe-vera and I would also use E. Maybe go and check out some of the things that women used also when PG so they would not scar. I am sure by now you found something because You are such a great researcher. AND YOU are a very Handsome Man..lol
