Just a little incentive

I just wanted to drop a line to all new here and new in recovery. I hope and pray for you to make it through the withdrawals and to hang on to sobriety at all cost because without it there is nothing anyway at least it is this way for me. I can promise you that it gets better maybe not overnight but it does get better. I thought for sure I had passed the point of no return but kept on trying no matter how many attempts seemed vain and I went back to the junk I held on to the words of the people here and I have now made it thus far clean and sober. I do attend meetings and do outpatient follow up recovery therapy with a doctor and a drug counselor on a weekly basis the doctor every three months. The best thing I was able to drop my other doctors and held on to the drug addict specialist and he takes care of all my medical needs with non narcotic medicine today. I don't take pain meds at all save ibuprofen and one non narcotic pain med but that is not everyday so I am learning to live with the chronic bs I have been dealt and it is not really that bad folks. I have my share of pain due to the spine injury and the implants they have in my spine but it is doable.
Again I want to emphasize that it gets better so hold on to that and pray even when it feels that God is not listening I believe they are still going up and if real prayers I think God won't ignore tham for the honest person trying to better him or herself.
My hats off to all you brave souls out there in this same battle for life with me. Keep the faith.....
Much Love and Respect! I remain sincere, Michael in the south

What you had to say gave me goose bumps. And I can relate to being grateful. Good, bad, or even ugly day, we All should be grateful for being on this side of the ground. I
feel most inspired by your message. Thanks MikeintheSouth.

He has posted a very uplifting choice of words. Everyone should take note that even in times of feeling down and hurting, there are a few rays of light. It may not be all or even close to what you are all hoping for, but it shows that even in times of adversity there is not complete darkness. Light that pierces even the darkest of corners are rays of hope and all is not lost. Mikeinthesouth is a perfect example of not letting the worst get all the way in but fighting it with resolve and gradually replacing the dark with more and more light until only brightness remains. It is hard to add anything to what he has said because he has covered it extremely well. Great post Mike. great post!

This is one of the few serious post I make usually like to play (joke) around to keep spirits up but some serious matters need discussing as this is a serious illness addiction and it kills a many great folk. So as it should be here is my serious side. Michael

Keeping busy even when it seems impossible to move keep your mind active and most importantly involving yourself in a recovery program an a daily basis. I love the ones that say I can't due to time well time never stopped me from fixing myself when I was ill and time is of course important and valuable to me as well but it is a life or death struggle for me so I have to make the time and produce the energy and patience for the recovery programs I implement in my life today. This preaching seems so strange to be coming from me as I am not one to preach but it is coming from somewhere in me so I am letting it out here. My unconditional love to you all here, Michael
Hang tough even when white knuckling it is needed do it just like Nike just do it friends......
I swear to you all here that did not see me before and if you did see me here I am sure you might have felt it from me  I thought for sure I was a goner a lost soul destined to die in my addiction and now well it seems to be different for me. No this is not a pink cloud I have been clean going on a year and have wished for a pink cloud to no avail this is just gratitude coming from a whole hell of allot of disparity.

God Bless you & all others struggling.  I just went through 4 days of pure hell with my husband coming off a cold turkey oxycodone (short-term addiction)  Today seems to be the 1st day of "close to normalcy"...however it did not start out that way.  This forum has been so helpful...not quite sure if we could have pulled through on our own.  Prayer is powerful...all those struggling with addiction who are non-believers...I pray for you. Hang in there...everyday clean & sober is a step closer to freedom! Hugs, sara
