Chantrix?

Did anyone catch something on the news about a new smoking drug that has some kind of deadly side effect? Was this about Chantrix? I saw something on the Tele about it, but missed the actual newscast.

Chantix has about a 40% success rate, so my sister-in-law, who happens to be a Doc. says.......pretty good percentage.

The story that I relayed was in People magazine about a keyboardist in Dallas, TX who was taking Chantix, at least that is what the magazine printed.  Sorry guys, wasn't trying to worry anyone, I was just answering Savas question in the above post.

I too, know of several people who have quit smoking using the Chantix and some of them had the weird dreams but not any of the agitation or violence.  One friend of mine was a chain smoker (3 pks a day) and she was able to quit after taking the Chantix, so I know for a fact that it can work.

it was not chantix it was the genric brad of zyban . that is also a antidpressant called welburtrin.
So all who is taking chantix not to worry.

Love those rare side effects!!! :)  Maybe that was it. They never said WHO the side effect was fatal for!!! :)

I hope isn't wasn't that one. I am about to start using it. OMG. I know several ppl who have taken it very successfully.

I read an article about a guy who had been on Chantix for a week and then on week 2 upped his dose as they prescribe, he and his girlfriend started taking this at the same to quit smoking.  They both had been experiencing the common side effect of weird vivid dreams, people have said that the dreams are almost like being in a hallucinogenic state of mind.  Anyway, he started becoming very agitated on the drive home from having dinner out and then just became very violent with his girlfriend who swears he has never been violent, he was just in a rage and his neighbor thought he was trying to break in their house and he shot the man, he died of the gunshot wound.  The RX company says that this is very rare side effect, they do not think that the Chantix was the reason for the violent episode.  

I know that this drug has helped many people quit smoking, but one of my dearest friends used it and was one weird acting person while she took the Chantix.  I guess anytime you take something that messes with brain receptors, there is probably always a risk.

It may be on tonight's six o'clock news which is why I haven't seen it yet. I'll see if I can find out which channel and tape it. That way I can skip all the *important* news about this Actor's kids or that Actress's breakdown!

nope I have not and everyone I know that has used chantix olny has good things to say about it .
