101 days clean - time to share my story

I have been a member of this site since August 2009 and have been gaining tremendous support through sharing with others in need, but as one of my new friends pointed out this weekend, I have not shared my story, so I thought it was high time to introduce myself and share a bit on myself.  I am 101 days clean from Suboxone - after a 4 years battle with no success in tapering.  I started on Suboxone after a several year 200+mg/day hydrocodone habit.  Suboxone was supposed to be the life saver, but I was quickly hooked on that and had I known what I know now - I would have suffered through the vic withdrawal happily.  I have been battling addiciton for over 20 years - started out in recovery 21 years go with a 30 day rehab stay for meth - was only 21 then and was not ready to be clean - so that was short lived - although I never used meth again.  Had a long love affair with pot and slowly was introduced to hydrocodone when I injured my back in 2004 - started to drink more - and the rest is history we all know too well.  I am so glad to be a member of this site - each post I read and each post I answer helps me to stay clean.  The friends I have made in recovery are like no other friends I have ever had - it's great to have people you don't even know love and care for you.  Thanks everyone for 101 of the best days of my life.

Everyone:

Thank you all for your kind words.  My success is your success, we are all in the this together.  I will continue to share and take wisdom from others who share.

Matt, I love your analogy - we have mini-birthdays - celebrations for each day we remain clean and sober.  Celebrate being clean.

Thanks again for everyone you all give me - Steve

As always, you rock and I stand in awe.  Thanks for sharing your story and staying so committed to helping not only yourself but others.

I like to think of milestones as birthdays.  It's true considering we are not really alive while using.  So that makes you 101 now!   At least with age, comes wisdom.

Keep at it, we are all here for you

Matt

Congratulations on 101 days. Sometimes when were on here we are more focused on helping others and forget about ourselves in the process. We (I) need to share what I'm going through a lot more with the forum as well as with my friends. It is a really good thing to share our good and bad experiences as everything we post there is someone out there that it helps and can relate. Congratulations and keep sharing. Corey
