36 hours clean

My last dose of oxy was over 36 hours ago.  The tapering really helped as my withdrawal symptoms have not been too difficult so far.  I did have a lot of trouble sleeping last night -- I took a valium at bedtime and woke up 2 hours later (and was wide awake).  I took another valium and slept for 2 more hours before waking again.  I didn't want to take another so I basically tossed and turned for a few hours, dozing just a little, until it was time to get up.  Hopefully the insomnia will pass quickly but I've heard that sleep patterns are one of the last things to return to normal.

Other than that the achy feelings are getting less and less, I have no diarrhea, and I haven't noticed anymore dizziness.  My eyes get a little teary from time to time but nothing like they did when I tried withdrawing before tapering.

Good on you Tim ! Yeah almost 48 hours.. If you get a lil emotional teary even This is normal and will pass quickly I agree with all the above taking anything to sleep just makes it more uncomfortable in the long run.  I do no suspect you will be awake for days at a time as some are but get a few more hours of sleep each night sorta like a reverse taper.. Make sure you are staying hydrated and eating well.. Soon you will be free of all this. I had a shoulder replacement and was off the meds in 3 our 4 weeks my hubby had rotator cuff tear he had surgery on and only needed the meds for a week our so. You should do fine with the shoulder as the back is much more painful.. One Day at a Time is a good motto to live by :)) lesa

Thanks for the advice, particularly on the valium.  It was prescribed as a muscle relaxer to help with residual sciatic pain while my nerves heal from the back issues.  I'm instructed to take it as needed.  I do still have some pain but I started a steroid pak today that should also help in calming the inflammation.

I have to admit I feel kind of "crappy" today.  Nothing too bad, just low energy and my wife notes I'm a bit testy.  I'm sure I'm not the best company today.

Tonight at 9PM I'll be at the 48 hour mark.  I am not tempted in the least to take any of the oxy, so I just need to ride out the remaining withdrawal symptoms... one day at a time.

I totally agree. And if your body gets use to the valium, that withdrawal's main symptom is no sleep. Try playing games on your phone or tv, or reading. Making your eyes tired helps them close. Boring TV is good too. Warm baths and hot chocolate at night may help. Basically, just go with it. Your body will sleep when it needs too. Try not to stress about it, as that keeps you awake too. It will pass soon. Great job on day 2! Just keep going.

My personal opinion is I wouldn't even bother with the valium as you can see, they won't work for this.  I tried everything to sleep and NONE of them worked. In fact, they made things worse b/c then I was groggy...but couldn't sleep.  Made me more tired physically, but not mentally.  Just roll with it until it starts to subside.  Non-sleep won't kill us....at least that's what I was told.
Damn good job on tapering!  Alot of us can't do that so definate kudos to you!
