69 hrs into C/T~Helpful Advice for Easier Taper

I'm almost to day 3.  Just three hours shy.  My last percocet was taken Wednesday at Noon.  I've learned from reading all yours posts that days 3 & 4 are the worst, so I'm still bracing for what still may come.  But so far, my only complaints are mild body aches.  I've slept very well (using some Thomas stuff) and my anxiety is being kept under control with little doses of Xanax throughout the day.  I only had a 20 pill prescription (1 mgs, but I'm cutting them in half), so when those are gone, they're gone.  I don't want those little guys to give me yet another problem!

If my story can be of any help to those thinking about quitting, please ask a good friend/spouse/etc to take control of your meds and have them dispense what you need for ONE DAY only.  Do this for several days.  When you feel pretty good at that dose, then have that person bring you one pill less.  Repeat that process for as long as it takes and then try to quit C/T when you get down to the bare minimum. That's what my huband did for me.  He hid the rest so there was no way I could get more. I never got them thru illegal means. Even if I wanted to, I wouldn't know how! This whole taper process took me about a month.  Once I got down to two percs a day (I broke those in half) and maintained that for three days, I went c/t.  So far, it seems to have helped me greatly compaired to some of the horrible w/d stories I'm reading from others on this site.  I know it's "one day at a time", but so far, this day isn't too bad, thanks be to God and to all of you for your encouraging messages!

I hope this helps someone out there!

good to hear that you're getting clean... that's really awesome! I thought it would be impossible to break the habit but I really willed myself through it. I've said it time and time again, one of the most "rewarding" days of my life was the first time after addiction when I was lying in bed and I thought to myself, "you know, I didn't think about getting high once all day." It had to be one of the best feelings I've ever felt. Having a productive day, really getting things done at work and home and then realizing that I did all this stuff without even *thinking* about getting high. It's hard to explain but that was really something I never thought would happen while using. I hope that day comes sooner than later for you
