72hrs off Suboxone & NO Withdrawal. Why?

* Ive been off Suboxone for 72hrs after running out 3days ago, but I dont have w/d symptoms! Im confused as to why/whats going on because Ive endured Suboxone w/d a few times before & the w/d symptoms have always hit me hard by 48hrs.

[Background info] Im a 20yo Female & Ive been on Suboxone for 1 YEAR. Im on 8mgs/day & have been for 8months. BUT before running out last Saturday I had been taking 16mgs/day for 12days, On the 12th day (Sat Dec 27th) I took my last Two 8mg pills; One 8mg Pill @ 4pm & the LAST 8mg Pill @ 10pm.... [ Id like to add that Im also on 40mgs of Adderall per day & I started taking it after 2wks off, on Monday day2 off of Subs, I mention this incase it matters]

QUESTIONs; Its 10:30pm Tuesday, 72hrs without Suboxone & I still have NO w/d symptoms (yet?)....
(1) Any idea Why the W/D symptoms havent kicked in yet?
(2) Does anyone think theres a possibility I wont experience withdrawal this time? (haha I wish)
(3) Does anyone think its just taking longer to hit me because I was taking a higher dose for 12days before I ran out?
(4) Could taking the adderall delay or prevent my detox symptoms? I doubt it but I thought I should ask anyways.
(5) Any other ideas why?

Thanks,
Kate

I have to say that my experience is much different than ANY I have found online. Took an 8mg film on  Thurs feb 15th - followed by 3.5 days (86hrs) without any symptoms. I decided to take an 8mg film on Mon feb 19th, planning to kiss the suboxone goodbye forever. My mind was just in the right place and i had the perfect support system in place to succeed. Today is now Mon feb 26...1 week, 7 days, exactly 171hrs and I HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED A SINGLE SYMPTOM OF WD! Could this be possible? Can miracles happen with this thing? I have been searching for an answer to no avail. I'm taking it 1 day at a time. I'm ready for whatever and anxiously awaiting a surprise withdrawal symptom to come out...but I'm really hoping that its actually possible.

I was on heroin on Thursday, at 11:30 am. Last dose. Got sub script that night. Forced precipitated widthdrwal friday morning 6:00 am with 32 mg of sub. 24 hours of hell. Sat morning. 6-8 am 16 mg sub. 6:30 am Sunday morning 16 mg sub.  Last dose. Widthdrwal yet to come?
It is now Tuesday 6:02pm
Took my last H fix on Sunday April 1st then Monday April 2nd when wd started took 2 8mg subs then Tuesday April 3 took one 8mg sub and Wednesday April 4 my last 8 mg sub (I only took subs for 3 days) Now its Sunday April 8th still feel good no wd may be I'm one of the lucky ones too , may be because I took it only took subs for 3 days and have beaten the big bump of withdrawal.  Someone tell me its possibly I know everyone's body is different but I heard my type of story many times and they are still clean no wd.
Oh it's  absolutely possible! I use to take oxy and had a script 370 mgs a day.I got a hold of some subs and the first time I took them,  took 2 8mgs/day for a month and when I tried to stop, wds were so bad, I had to go back on oxy to taper down and quit because the withdrawal from opiates is far less savage thsn suboxone. A friend, who was taking 4 80mgs oxy/ showed me how to do it. He took a full 8 mg sub for 2 days, dropped to a half 8 mg the next 2 days, 1/4 of a sub next 2 days and a crumb the next two days and done! Ive done it dozens of times, only i start with half of sub 2 days, a quarter sub one day and a crumb the 4th  day and never have any w/ds. If yoi think about it, the fast acting opiates and H has a half life of 2 or 3 hours. Suboxones half life is like 36 hours!! So, when you so when you take the subs, as described above, you take the sub while the withdrawals would be real bad and get off of the subs b4 you get addicted. So you beat the withdrawals from opiates, without getting addicted to the subs. Works everytime, just got done doing it, yrsterday last day and Im fine!

I am on suboxone as well. I have been on it WAY TOO LONG, I'm going on 5 years. I can tell you that everyone is different but what remains the same for every person I've known who take subs the wd kicks in anywhere from 24 to 72 hours.  They are very long acting so that's why.  I know a few people who take adderall when they run out and they say it helps ALOT with keeping the wd at bay. I really hope this is the case for you as well.

I too am at 72hrs without taking Suboxone. Admittedly, I've just forgotten to take it. I'm on 4mg 4 times a day. My psychiatrist is trying to substitute this for a pain medication. I was on 80mg of oxy a day before this. I'm wondering why I haven't had any withdrawals either. With just a few hours of not having oxy it's brutal withdrawals for me, but it's been 3 days without Suboxone and I feel fine. I can sleep just fine if not too much and I do everything else normally. I'm hoping I'm one of the lucky ones, if I am, I'm not taking it anymore at all.

Subs and methadone are long acting opiates , the half life on them is alot longer then normal pain pills, it takes 3 days for the wds to start, as in pain pills wds happen soon as you stop taking them. subs and methadone have a longer wd period lasting anywhere from 10 days to 30 , pain pills you peak wd in 3 to 4 days and start feeling a tab better around 7. If your having issues stopping the pills , that would be the only reason to switch to subs, as they are harder to get off of then pills.
Me too no wd..eating drinking alot.. feel better
First let me tell you a little bit about me. I'm 50 years old, male and have been on methadone for the last 10 years. I'm an alcoholic who quit drinking 29 years ago. I don't do any other recreational drugs whatsoever as opiates have scratched that itch quite well. A few months back after tapering down from 80 mg a day to 20 mg per day , I signed out of the clinic and walked away. I was determined that with the small stockpile I had at home I could continue to wean myself off. I called a good friend of mine who has also been on methadone for over 10 years , although not at any particular Clinic and told her I was done. She happened to be  horribly dope sick that day  and begged me for a few wafers. I personally have great empathy for other Junkies who are sick and trying to keep it together, hold a job, pay a mortgage Etc ...
To make a long story short I picked the wrong time and the wrong parking lot to meet my lifelong friend in and soon I was in jail. I didn't stay in jail long as I do have some savings and means to post bond. I hired the best attorneys that I could and continued to cut my dose down as my court date approached. Last Wednesday was my court date and my attorneys worked out a no felony deal that knocked the drug charge down to a misdemeanor and more importantly the gun charge down to a misdemeanor (I live in a state that allows registered guns in your car) I also got 12 months of drug tested probation and it's because of this that I decided to jump off and go clean from 10mg of methadone a day. I've been doing opiates for 17 years and I've went the same route that a lot of you guys have. A bad back injury led to a prescription of Lortabs then to Percocet to Roxy's, oxy's, lollipops, pain patches and smack if nothing else was around. My last dose was Wednesday morning(10mg)  a week ago. I was drug tested the day after I went to court , called in at random they said.. what they really wanted was a Baseline so that they could see if the numbers went down nanograms/ decaliter wise. Therefore I don't have the luxury of taking benzos to sleep or even the most innocuous of prescription meds if they're not prescribed to me, it would be a violation Of course and I'd end up further entwined with the justice system. Here is how it's went:
I noticed nothing Thursday except for anxiety.
Friday was a bit worse but still nothing I couldn't work through.
Saturday I could tell I was going into the beginnings of a somewhat serious withdrawal. I didn't sleep at all Saturday night and the joint pain centered itself in both ankles. Sunday I knew I was in trouble, the nausea started , digestive troubles bubbled away painfully in my gut and sleep escaped me no matter what I tried. I was sweating like a w**** in church and more anxious than a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs. It was a very rough day.
Monday it appeared, at first at least , was going to be a great day .  Somehow  Sunday night I had managed to sleep four and a half hours  and my mind had tricked itself  into thinking the worst was over .  I Knew by noon that it was certainly not over. The mystery sleep had simply been one of those strange  gifts  that happened from time to time and not anything more. I decided instead of being crestfallen about the situation I would instead be grateful that somehow, somewhere, someone had allowed me that rest. No matter how rough Monday was I resolved myself to be in a grateful State of Mind for the nearly five hours of blissful sleep that I'd received. It's currently Tuesday evening and I'm feeling pretty rough. my face is so flushed , my body stinks , my ankles feel like they've been run over by semi truck, I am utterly exhausted  but it's the small things that keep me moving. I want to be clean. I want to put this hellish chapter behind me. I no longer want to be a Slave to the Grind of this disease The constant Hustle and Flow of opiate addiction has left me exhausted emotionally, spiritually and financially. Wish me luck, say a prayer and hopefully you'll hear from me again
Regards , Dave

There's nothing wrong with taking Suboxone while doing your recovery with AA or NA. You've just jumped at too high of a dosage. I tapered down to .5mg a day, and the wd's were a 2-3 on the 10 point scale (Oxy withdrawal was a 15).

Hey GA Guy,
I'd be really interested in hearing the story of your taper. That's more or less my plan. I have a doc who actually has a lot of compassion and wants to help me, not judgemental at all. I would like to get down to 0.5mg strips as well and then ween myself off of those. I did quit the dreaded METHADONE years and years ago. It was not easy but I also had a doctor help me by prescribing codeine afterwards. With small discomfort and about 6 months I was off the ****. Now due to health problems, I find myself on Suboxone after a lengthy pain pill regimen for an accident. I wasn't looking for trouble but I got it. Still, I haven't done anything illegal and through persistence I've found a decent doc and a way to legally deal with my addiction and work and be productive and NOT do anything I have to worry about a knock on the door for.

I can't do the codeine detox here (I was in the EU) but I would like to get to that 0.5mg strip and hold my own!
How was it for you? How long did it take you to get to that point? If you're still around, please illuminate me and/or start a new thread!
Cheers.

I wish I had known about the loooong w/d process with suboxone, I never would have gotten on suboxone. I dont know how to deal with this, but Im starting counseling again next week & Im looking for new NA or AA meetings.(I kinda like AA better bc it doesnt trigger me)
Does anyone know how long it should take for my brain to begin producing the chemicals its supposed to?

Thanks for everything. Happy New Year!!

You're not going to feel any withdrawals until the amount in your system drops below the ceiling dosage of 4 mg. You've been stacking high dosages on top of high dosages. I'd say you may want to see a doctor in the morning. Going off Sub at that high rate is going to be very unpleasant.

you aren't experiencing wd's because the sub built up over time in your body and it should be coming in the next couple of days and it will peak till around 3 weeks, its a long slow brutal wd that last well over a month for the physical and the mental side of wd's can last well over 6 mths. youve been on it for a year and it has been at a medium dose so that will what the wd's will be like in your situation if you go cold turkey, youve been clean for so long so dont give in and take opiates to stop the wd talk to your doc or figure something out and go to plenty of NA meetings or counseling sessions they will really help, have a happy new years-christos

I dont think I said that ive been having trouble sleeping ever since I stopped Subs. Yesterday my back started hurting but I thought it was just because of the couch I was sitting on for so long. Last night I went to bed @ 3am, feeling kinda crappy. @ 3:30am some w/d symptoms hit me, I was hot & freezing @ the same time with goose bumps everywhere even on the burning skin. I almost puked when my boyfriend smoked in my bathroom & it made my room smell, & I had some muscle discomfort with mild restlessness in my arms/back/legs but it wasnt nearly as bad is it gets. I got 4hrs of sleep after taking a sleeping pill @ 6:30am, I took a 30min shower that made me feel so much better. When I woke up this morning I felt pretty "good" for being in w/d at least. Im going to get my suboxone refill today.

**Im getting off Suboxone this summer... Im going to research information on how to///if its possible to avoide or lessen w/d when getting off of Suboxone. Including all the ways to make it less miserable. Ill see what I can find searching the medical journals at school & post everything ive found in a few months on a new thread.

no i dont think that adderral is stopping the w/ds, although it may help with energy, i dont reccommed it.  sub has a very long half life and dont start to leave the body for about 72 hours...so you should be feeling the w/ds soon, if not count yourself among the lucky and move forward.  i wish you the best and no w/ds at all.  keep us posted.

Perhaps it's the calm before the storm. I would only be guessing it's because of the higher doses before you stopped.
If by some miracle you do not experiance any withdrawals, I would like for you to document everything you did, ate, drank, breathed, etc., minute by minute, for the last 2 weeks or so, so that all the other people (like me) that need to come off Sub can duplicate what you've done. LOL
Like Trenchy said, Enjoy the peace while you can.  Then strap on your seat belt.
Good luck to you and please keep us updated on your progress.
