A friend of mine went cold turkey off Oxycodone, and is suffering from major insomnia. This would be day 11.

OK maybe not naturally, my friend feels as if they are going to die from no sleep. This is the worst part of the withdrawals from oxycodone! They do not crave the drug because after going this far there is no way they ever want to go back. They just want to move ahead. Can you die from this part of the withdrawal? They seem to think this is going to happen, just from the lack of sleep. Thanks in advance for any comments left, they are truly appreciated. My friend gets a sigh of relief knowing that these are common withdrawal that other people have also. They already tried, Nightquil (2), Melatonin,3mg (4)tabs, (2)beer, Ty p.m. (2), and is worst in the morning getting ready for work they are more GROGGY.

Also, your friend could ask for Catapres (clonodine). Many folks take this during the withdrawal period and it helps with insomnia. So,as long as the B/P is okay it might be worth a try.

No, you cannot die from going cold turkey.

Neither from the withdrawel or lack of sleep.

All things will pass.

The best solution is to get a medical note excusing them from work for a few weeks.

Hi~  It might be time for your friend to contact the doctor for a tempory sleep aid. Lack of
sleep is horrible and can make a normal person nutty.

Sometimes we need a little help so call the doctor for something mild.

Good luck~
