5 Months today!

Things are going well- no cravings still, life busy. And here comes summer with all 3 kids off and at home...I check in occasionally and read the beginning struggles of those just beginning. Boy, those first weeks were long, but then as I felt more myself, the using self seemed like it was in the rear view mirror, getting farther away. I used my DOC for nearly 4 years, though previous decades were drug free. I also had many excuses why I deserved a "treat" being home with 3 kids, etc., etc.(martyr anyone?).but life is much better these days. It's a treat not to seek pills, hide pills, spend money on pills, and have them turn me into someone else. To those starting: be patient with yourself, feel crappy for a while, then things turn around. To those regulars on this site: you are doing a great service to so many! It was a big help in those early days, months!

Thanks all! It's good once your mind starts thinking of what you want to do with your life outside of hiding addiction. Sometimes I almost feel like a daydreaming teenager! What's coming up next? What things have I always dreamed of doing? Can't do it all, for sure, but at least can do something!  Happy Memorial Day......

Ya!!!! 5 months is just awesome!! Keep on truckin and do not look back!!

Excellent post - inspirational to all, especially the new people. Be proud of what you've accomplished thus far and of your plans for on-going recovery. And the line "seek pills, hide pills, spend money on pills" is pretty much universal in all of our stories.  Many congratulations.
