I am on Day 7 without any opiates which is the longest stretch I have gone without taking ANY for the past 3 years.  I will not lie to you - withdrawal is a difficult thing to go through.  I had to endure it all week and I am still feeling its effects...restless legs, stomach cramps, anxiety, depression and my primary symptoms.  It's better to know what to expect than not...but everyone is different.  But i will tell you every day gets slightly better.  What I keep reminding myself of is the reason BEHIND wanting to stop - your daughter.  Every time you think you want to use - think of why you wanted to stop in the first place.  Any time I have a craving, I come on here and read about the experiences of others and it makes me feel better.  You have to keep telling yourself "you are stronger than the pills."  That's at least what I keep telling myself and even though I am only a week clean, its better than not at all!!  Good luck to you...you can do it!!

You really shouldn't NEED to take a narcotic for that.  Sure, it's painful, but OTC analgesics work pretty well too...at least give them a fair chance.

Remember too, hon, your intake wasn't that much, that WILL help.  Withdrawals are w/ds, but every bit is something to hold onto!

While I was detoxing I noticed drinking anything caffeine made me more jittery and unable to sleep so make sure to watch your intake as it can do that. Jess also know if it becomes unbearable you can reach out to the hospital and ask for help. You do not have to go through this alone. Keep your head up you can do this!

Aw, honey.  I'm so sorry you're going through this.  Please keep posting, try to keep your mind occupied,.  Rent some funny, uplifting movies, listen to some soothing music, and keep visualing how you'll feel sober, not worrying about pills anymore.  You can DO this! XOXO

I would avouid anything stimulating like coffee.  It may exacerbate anxiety and stomach upset.  If you like tea, there are different kinds that can be very soothing, in moderation of course.  Insomnia is a BIGGIE during detox, there is something called "sleepytime tea" that many people swear by!  Myself, I am a terrible insomniac, I have been wanting to try that myself.

The regulars who have been around here forever have some great advice.  I think the best is, TRY not to worry about how you will feel, how long it will last, etc.  The more you focus on that, the worse it is.  You're already ruminating about that, so it's best if you can try to stop overthinking this so much (as scary as I'm sure it is).

They also say that the more you can just accept that you will feel crappy for a few days, the better you will be.  In the big picture, it's only a couple days (up to a week) compared to the rest of your life without having to be tied to those pills!  That's SO worth it!!

You may not have it too too bad, as your usage isn't THAT bad compared to most.  That's no guarantee, but it will help you.  Many say that you will start the uphill climb to feeling better on/after day 4.  Of course, everyone is different.  In order to be successful, you must make sure you've eliminated your supply, cut off ALL sources, ask for support from someone if you can.  Stay as busy and distracted as you can.  The less you're thinking about it, the better.  If you can get someone to help with your daughter, that would be great too.

There are physical and emotional symptoms of w/d.  The physical symptoms may include hot/cold chills, sweating, aches and pains, restless legs, nausea, diarrhea, lack of appetite, headaches.  The emotional ones may include crying spells, feeling guilty, anger, depression, irritability, agitation, increase in anxiety.

Look up the Thomas recipe...if you can, get all the supplies you need today to help minimize the symptoms.  Nothing will make the w/d go away completely, but you can treat the symptoms.

Immodium for the diarrhea, staying hydrated (gatorade or plain old water), hyland's restless legs, try to eat when you can, small amounts, light foods.  Even though you will feel lousy, physical activity is a great thing, try to go for a walk...that will help.  Lots of hot baths./showers, and be sure to have ready many changes of clothes for the sweating.  You can take Tylenol or Motrin for the aches and pains.  NO alcohol, and avoid medicating with other addictive meds (like benzos) if you can.

You will get amazing info and support here.  If you're feeling as though you may cave in and take something, come here and post first....these people can talk you down and remind you why you're doing this.  You're doing this both for yourself and your little girl who needs you!

Very best of luck to you, congrats for making such a huge decision to reclaim your life back from the pills!
