Addicted to opiates need help

I have been taking pain killers for about 4years off and on.. I want to quit so badly and have been having horrible withdrawals, my dependency to this is the main reason I want to quit.. I hate that I think about this from the moment I wake up to the moment I go too sleep... Does anyone have any suggestions I'm super desperate..

So proud of you on Day 9. WoW!!! Anxiety is going to come and go with a vengeance for the next week or so, but it too will get better. Your physical stuff should be just about done. Definite YES on NA or AA. Go, don't say a word, just listen, and go to a number of different ones if available. I have gone to 11 or 12 and have decided they are going to help. Just One Day at a time.

Feeling better , starting Day 17. Seems like a long time ago when I first started. Time flies. I have figured out that these w/d feelings as bad as they can be, will NOT kill you. Stay strong and keep posting.

Thanks Charlie on day 9 and feel good.. The anxiety is kicking my butt, however I'm trying to stay present. Also dealing with the guilt and how ****** up I was (excuse the language). I'm thinking an NA meeting may help. I been to a couple.. Mostly listened.... How are you feeling. I hope your doing well.. Thanks for the support :)

Hi, Lina, Yoga has really helped me to stay calm and centered during this process. It is a good thing. Stay strong. You are doing great.

Hang in there. You can be and are stronger than this devil called addiction. The physical parts ease up quite a bit after first week, then the mental mindscrew kicks in. Urges, anxiety, mood swings, and fatigue all kick in and out. It was easier knowing they were going to show up. I was better prepared. Stay busy, cravings only last a few minutes, and this is about the rest of your life. Get out, Find NA, exercise, take a walk, scream and shout, but NEVER GIVE UP. You can do this.  I am working Day 13 and seeing the improvement. Every bad thing you are feeling is temporary, every good thing you are doing can be for a lifetime. And you deserve that. Stay strong. JUST FOR TODAY.

Always love.

One week ago I was right there where you are. Scared, feeling like crap, barely 3 days, and barely hanging on. Here's how I got to Day 11, without dying or killing anyone.

First, keep posting, every time for the first 5 days I had really bad minutes and hours, I would read and post. My group of angels would respond when they could and helped me get through the rough physical part.  Get and drink lots of water, cut back on caffeine, and have some snacks. These are for diverting your attention away from the physical part. Taking walks, walking my dog, showers, baths, yard work, run to the store ( not recommended for days 4 - 6 for physical changes ). You are not trying to be drug free for the rest of your life right now.

YOU ARE trying to be drug free JUST FOR TODAY.  Today is all you have.
Yesterday is gone and you can be proud of what you accomplish, tomorrow never gets here, so FOCUS on JUST TODAY. This really helped get me through the minutes, hours, and days.

You can do this. I know. We are here to help. If you had told me two weeks ago, that not only was I going to stop c/t, but I would be at day 11 and getting better, I would have called you nuts! But this is how God works. He put you and us on this site at the same time to get you through this and to help us continue to make progress.  Trust and Love. You want to quit; otherwise you wouldn't be posting right now. You have to tough it out, but trust me, if I can do this , so can you. Keep us posted.

I watch and read over and over about this addiction as well. We want so bad to understand it. I'm not sure what answers I'm looking for but I just keep looking as well. You are almost at the top of the mountain. Just get through today andd give yourself a day four clean. We believe you can do it.

I'm three days in feeling super crappy and anxious also irritable. I just bought these vitimans from calmsupport.com and been watching a ton of videos on you tube about this addiction. Thank you for taking the time to write me. It's nice to not feel alone.... How are you doing?

Kudos to you for taking this step!  I agree with jlannspr; just stop now rather than drag out by tapering which is what i have done. Would give anything to go back to when I was detoxing from oxy...I was SO sick so I continued taking percs to ease the with sickness. I was two days in and through so much already so I should have sucked it up and quit it all then. Instead I have been in and out of mild, perpetual withdrawal for months. I just took my LAST Percocet and am ready for battle...let's take this journey together. JJ

If you've decided to quit and you've started withdrawal, go with it...Try not to go back to the pills you are 50% there, make it 4 or 5 days tops without the pills and you've beaten some of the battle. You do not want to go on with taking them any longer that you have, it will just hurt the process. If you've read on here many many years of life have been ruined by these, don't let anymore of your years be ruined.

I was taking pretty much anything I can get my hands on... But mostly 10mg Percocet I was taking ten a day for almost a month. My sister gave me Tylenol with cod 30mg to kinda ease me out of it.. It's just my anxiety levels are so high and I am a very anxious person as it is.

Hey, Lina. I agree w/ everything Krissy wrote. Also, are you out of meds now? If we have em, we take em. As addicts, we need to remove all access: dr, street, etc. Block ph #s, etc.

Tell us where you are w/ this.

What pain killers and dosage? How long have you been in w/d's? And that's totally normal addict thinking, the never being able to stop thinking about them. But as the days go by I promise you it gets less and less. Hot Epsom salt baths help the achey muscles and restless legs/arms. Imodium for Diahria. Melatonin/valrinroot for sleep. Trying to get out and get fresh air, little walks. You really need to try and keep busy. Your mind and body or the bordom and anxiety feelings can become over welming. I'd suggest some aftercare as well,AA N/A a counsler. Make sure you're drinking lots,I know it's hard with the upset tummy, but you can dehydrate quickly. Especially if you're taking imodium. Keep posting!
