to ibkleen dont worry about being rude...i know his addiction is bad and dont worry that pregnancy question to pretty much answer my own questions as to y i cant get pregnant. researching it wasnt enough altho i did believe it...
but believe me i dont plan on having a baby till hes over with this problem or this problem breaks us up. im not much for patience. im here trying to supportive n he hasnt injected in 2 days. he cut down on the soma n he said hes going to taper down. but if he doesnt end this battle someway im going to put him in a hospital n walk away bc i have a child to look after and im not one to hear the im going to quit n then break a promise. ive been lie too in the past too many times n as harsh as i  may sound towards my husband, im the kind of woman who can only handle so much n then say "be gone evil" im young and will not tolerate this if u catch my drift

According to my fertility doc, I was extremely lucky the medicine they gave me allowed us to conceive. (im sorry but I forget the name now)

The only reason im on the path to recovery is because of our expecting a new baby.
We have two other kids but the thought of bringing a child into this world while being under the influence was too much for me to Handel. I'm using my baby as my will power to abstain from using.

I haven't slept in two days, it literally took me putting my hands on my wife's tummy to feel the baby just to keep me from taking opiates last night.
Its hard, extremely hard. If your partner is shooting opiates its gonna be a much bigger battle than the one I'm going through.

I'll say a prayer for you both.
Good luck and God Bless

I am not trying to be rude or negative--please do not misunderstand, but I do not believe your partner has a "little" addiction. Isn't he shooting Dilaudid? And also taking Vicodin and Soma?

If you are thinking that getting pregnant will get him to stop taking drugs, just know that the chances of that are not good. It is not because he does not love you, or because he does not want children or any of those things. It is because his first love is drugs and until he is on the path of recovery that will not change. As long as he is using he has no choice. It is only until he puts the drugs down that he can take a step back and make a choice.

I am saying this because I have seen this exact situation so many times and it just doesn't end well.

Just a suggestion but it may be in both of your best interest to see him into recovery before you start a family. I wish you both the best of luck and happiness of course. I hope you stay around here and listen to the members for advise.

well the things is guys i did google it....n i told him that is why i cant get pregnant..he said it rediculous....but now that i'm in a forum getting people to people  answers im sure it will not only help him see that IM ALWAYS RIGHT lol but it will also entice him to quit with his little addiction and start the family he always wanted. like i said i already have a kid of my own 5yrs old. but hes never had a kid and i want a baby. but now half a year later with his med addiction i kno its going to be a very very long road to clean himself up and regain a normal life...n trust me hes had the ultimatum that if he dont try im outie....but im still here....btw how long does it take for opiates to leave the body after half a year of abuse?

YES,
Opiates have a negative effect on sperm. We went to a fertility doc and he gave me meds that helped but they don't always work.
If you really want to get pregnant the chances will be much greater if opiates are out of your husbands system.

Hope this helps,
Good luck,
