i may be able to help with the serotonin and dopamine receptors,  My first detox doctor's put me on natural supplement's, by taking them it can only benefit.  If you would like to know about it. private message me and i can tell you about it and you can possibly talk it over with your doctors.  it just depends on how low your levels of serotonin and dopamine are.  It seemed to work for me with my irritability towards my family and friends.  Look forward to being able to help ... Great job steve - Tom

I have been told that it can take 2 years for the brain chemesty to get back to a full 100%. That may be true but I feel like my old self now and an hopeful to continue getting better. I found new job which is a high pressure management job where I work about 11 hours a day and am doing just fine. I really have no cravings of any kind now.I had a really rough withdrawal period of about 3 weeks when I stopped the subs. I probably had some minor anxiety issues before I started with the Percs and that has not changed. That may be why the percs were so good to me for many years as it addressed the anxiety better than the back pain for which I took them for. I took percs for over 4 years and increased to about 7 750 mg per day on average.

I feel very lucky but I was so focused on succeeding that I also take some credit. I never focused on anything as much as I did to taper off the subs and not relapse. So far so good. No cravings of any kind at all. Excercising 3 x a week and lost 35 llbs since I stopped the subs about 6 mos ago. It appears I am fully back on track. It can be done!!!!!

I am sure the percs and subs must have had some negative effects on my longterm brain function, but I am now fuctioning at an acceptable level that allows me to perform at high levels at work and in my personnel life. Steve

I am so encouraged to hear you have been off the subs for an extended period. i so fear that because of the damage i have done to the receptors in my brain that i will never be able to be off of some type of opiate without the cravings and depression. how long did it take for your cravings to go away? are you deling with any depression or anxiety? im wondering what your history with opiates was before suboxone? are you living with any ill effects that you think come from brain changes caused by opiates? any info would be appreciated. congratulations on your time off suboxone!

Thanks everyone for the support.  It is one thing i lacked when a detoxed the first time i did an outpatient detox at a rehab center.  I had my appointments once a week for the first two months then every other week for two more months then once a month for two more months,,...... then all of a sudden i had no more appointments or check-ups, no referrals to other doctors for the ADD they quote " Diagnosed" me with.  And i relapsed 7 months after being clean... i let it get the best of me.  But this time i did it all alone and am continuing aftercare... ex. NA, and this forum.   Everyday gets brighter and brighter.  Thanks again everyone. -Tom

You should be so proud of yourself. please continue to keep us informed. it seems people post being off suboxone for about a month maybe two and then the posts dissappear. it's hard to tell if they went back on the suboxone or they are doing so well that they don't feel the need to post so much. in any case it would help so many of us if you would continue to let us know how you are doing and things that really help you get through.
thank you and congratulations!

the .1 mg was a error . it was 1 mg and i tapered with the 8 mg sub's i tapered to long for my own personal feelings , and yes we are all different and i am 23 days clean now,  feeling pretty darn good.  i just need to work on my serotonin levels now i am trying natural supplements to do that.  Being this my second detox doing it all on my own, first time was at a detox center,  i sort of have the ideas and everything else to do,  after a week it was much more tolerable, i have been attending at least one NA meeting a week, and posting on here and hopefully being able to help others.  thanks for the concern's and any other questions feel free to ask.

u took 0.1 mgs?  how did u measure that out?   none the less...u r tapering....how long have u been on the sliver of a dose?  with sub u gotta remember doses u took 3 days ago r still hanging around

not sure the time u were on sub nor ur initial dose/nor doc/dose which led u to sub...all i know is if u wanna let go..u gotta do it....take alook at the Thomas recipe...sub is a narcotic/the recipe will help u...read the articles on sub as well/all in the health pages to ur left

are u doing any typ-e of aftercare?   sub wds can be a bit longer than oxy or hydro wds...but we r all different...read and learn..be sure u take care of the sleep aspect as lack of sleep causes relapse...keep moving forward...and keep posting
