Another hydro victim

I have been on hydrocodone since surgery 1 and a half years ago. I take one 10/325 at bedtime to help me sleep.  This is all I would allow.  The pain at night keeps me awake.  One day I had my prescription refilled and forgot to pick it up.  I figured no big deal.  However...I couldn't sleep and felt as though I was going to jump out of my skin.  Now I am afraid I am addicted so now I want to stop taking them.  But if that night is any indication of withdrawal symptoms, I am wondering how to stop taking them.  Can someone out there give me some advice on how to get off these?

I am much like you in that I also only take 7.5 -10 mg in the evening. Im dependent not addicted. The "Jumping out the skin" thing is awful. It helped me to get up and walk around some. This did not happen everytime I did not take the pill but it was more than I liked. For what it's worth it doesnt seem to get worse since Ive been doing this for over 3 years.

good luck

Tapering down and cutting up the pill is an  good idea..or just take 1/2 for a few nights and quit....melatonine, 5htp, gaba, valerian are all things that can help u sleep naturally if u need it

I agree with rue about the being dependent not addicted since you are clearly not abusing the medication.R2R sounds like they gave you a great taper plan, and that should minimize any type of withdraw discomfort.Maybe you could speak to your doctor about giving you something for the pain that is not a narcotic.I wish you all the luck and keep posting you'll find alot of help and support here.Peace.

I'm with R2R.  Good for you if you were taking only 1/day.  I've read here where addiction and dependence are two different things.  Perhaps you are dependent--your body is used to having the drug.  From your post, it doesn't appear as if you are addicted, because you didn't indicate abuse--taking more than necessary with or without pain, etc.  In any event, If you want to stop there are plenty of people who have more to offer than I.

I wish you luck.

God bless.

WOW , i don't think i have seen anyone that just took one a day for this long...But that is great, and glad u are seeing this early...
Can u try some kind of OTC sleep aid, and see if that helps....Or start breaking that one in half for like 4 nights, then break that half in half for 4 nights, etc....
Take hot baths right before bed, and look at the health pages, and get the amino's
