Anxiety during pain pill detox

How long does the anxiety usually last when you are in detox from pain pills?  i have been clean for two and a half weeks now, but the extreme anxiety is literally crippling me from having a normal life......Thanks,
Sarah

Thanks! I will go get that tomorrow because I have to get my six year old to bed for school tomorrow.  At this point I will try anything.  the Cymbalta and Xana are working pretty well though...Doctor assured me that I woulldn't get hooked on just a weeks worth of Xanax, and that I have taken prozac so long that I'm immune to it.... By thw way cymbalta cost like almost $200, but its the best thing I've had yet!

Thanks for the help, but its to late...I'm already depending on xanax, and cymbalta.  I really need it though to help fill the void in my life from leaving the pain pills alone.  Honestly, I was already on klonopins and prozac before I got clean.  I am a BIG mess right now, but I'm trying to do anything I can at this point...Any other suggestions??? And thank you for your support my friend!!

I am a female I had to have my husband set this site up for me, cause i was too foggy headed and couldn't focus so just clarifying that.  I have been taking lortab 10 mg for about 2 years for back pain.  I went cold turkey the end of march 2011. I am still thinking I am losing my mind.  Went to a detox center for 6 days!! all they did was monitor my blood pressure.  I cant sleep unless i take ambien, been taking 20mgs since this sleep has evaded me.  going to my doc today, the anxiety is really worrying me.  They put me on celexa when i was in the detox.  but it is not helping me.  I am praying for you and everyone on this site

I just left the doctor again.  We changed me to cymbalta because the prozac was not working for me at all.  He gave me some xanax and told me not to take the klonopin right now with them.  Hopefully the new meds will bring me back to "life" again soon.

Thank you all so much for the great advice and support!!  I am really struggling with this anxiety issue, but I would look at a pain pill right now and I swear I would flush them all down the first toilet that I could throw them in.  I know that if I can get my body to act right I will be able to resume a normal life again....just waiting.....

You have some good advice here.....I just wanted to second the exercise thing!  This will help jump start your brain and really helps with that anxious feeling...You will notice that energy will go up as well.  I would also recommend a protein shake in the morning and another one in the late afternoon.  They are loaded with amino acids and the protein is great for reporduction of cells in your body.  In combination with the exercise you will truly make that jump from feeling crummy to having more better days than bad....You can do this and there really is no alternative.  I got to the point with the pills that I no longer was getting the energy boost I once had so a life sober is sooooo much better than a life high.....Good luck and God bless!

I think it varies from person to person. My anxiety   Lasted about 8-10 days. Then it was there a little but just got better every day. It was real bad days1-4. And even a couple days before i was about to quit. I've never had anxiety in my life before so it was never an issue. But it sucked, good luck.

everyone is different..ie..I never had anxiety but had crippling fatigue instead.  I slept like 12 hours a day and coulda slept more if i didnt have to work.!
There are some things that can help that r natural like theanine which is in real green tea, not the walmart stuff.  Also, 5htp before bed helped me and exercise helps anxiety and fatigue
The thomas recipe is great..it is in the health pages

Know things get better but the mental part of this is tough for some.  My physical wd was nothing, but mentally I had the fatgue and lack of motivation for a while...hang tight..it passes

I was released from a rehab center and have been off pain pills for 21/2 weeks and honestly what works for me is trying to stay busy and going to AA meetings. the anxiety was driving me nuts until I started doing these two things. I hope this helps alittle.

When  I re-read your past posts you said you were put on antidepressant and anti-anxiety meds when you detoxed?  Is this right?  Are you still on the anti-anxiety med?  Also, some antidepressants may cause anxiety too.  You might want to google the meds he has given you and see.  If there is an issue w/ this being a side effect, you might want to talk w/ your doctor.

Like everything it is different for us all. Have you talked with a doctor about it? You may need something to help you out. I don't believe that just because we abuse pain meds we can't take other types of meds responsibility. There may be something going on with you besides the recovery that needs medical attention / medications to help.
