90 days clean from Norco

I was taking 10 - Norco10's a day for about 3 years and I have been clean for just at 90 days now. It has been much more of a mental struggle for me and haven't had any real issues so far. My biggest thought now is that I feel I was so much more productive, energetic, and capable when I was using. I feel like I battle to even try and get as much accomplished as I used to. Everybody talks about how much better you will feel when you are clean, and I am not feeling that way. Is it that I have only been clean a short while that my energy is not where it used to be? I have been offered pills and have turned them down no problem, so I know I have the strength to stay off; its just frustrating that I am not feeling as amazing as I expected.

Maybe I am just feeling negative, but its been nagging at me for a week or so.

Thanks for all the support, for those new to this group it is an amazing place to find support and answers to the million questions you will have!

Definitely give it more time. I found that 6 months was eye opening in my recovery. That's when life sort of blossomed for me. It got new and fun again in a whole new healthy way. Hang in there! It is sooo worth it. You are still very much in the beginning stages. Your brain and body need lots of time to heal and 're adjust. Be patient with yourself. Congrats!

Congratulations on your clean time..90 days and more to go. Just take it one day at a time.
I agree with all the above, but I will try to answer your question.
The Energy is/was the last thing to come around. We hit this low/no motivation, around your time or even further out. YOU just have to step back and learn how to be OK with it. Take Baby Steps and things will get done. Wanting that Synthetic Energy to get me going, and get all my outside & inside work done like yesterday, was one of my biggest triggers to use. I told myself, that this is all material here and I can not take it with me when I pass on..I told myself, if I go out and use something then I will pass on..so why, I asked myself?? That Energy thing has been a real struggle for me for many reason. One is my age and how I used off and on most of my life, another is that it took me way longer to balance out in my Brain and Body, plus I had that silent heart attack and had 2 stents put in..SO the ENERGY will come back, but our brain & body have to adjust back after the removal of these Stims..Time & Patience. Some balance back quicker then others and there are many factors why. Make sure YOU are taking some great vit/min and eating very Healthy. To much sugar or simple carbs can give you a quick lift and then drop you down, so try to be careful and not eat to many sugars or simple carbs. Eating small meals every 3 hours during the day will help with the energy, as it stabilizes your sugar level out.
Exercise, Music and Sun will help bring back up those "Happy Chems" that we have knocked down when using. Protien shakes are great and so is Amino-Acids all component in one. These are all the L-s. Maybe a extra boost of vit Bs will help along with some iron. Just get a really good multi vit/min. It will take time for it all to kick in. Hang Tight and do not fall back on the pills. YOUR Energy will come flying back in real soon. YOU are still healing. Good Luck! Be Good and Be Safe!!

Hey Dude congrats on 90 days!!!.....anyways I agree with jifmoc....what your doing is ''white knuckling'' your sobriety....long after the pills stop your still stuck with the addict in your head....there is no growth in trying to do this yourself....this is a ''we'' thing not a ''I'' thing  time to get out of your comfort zone and start treating the addict....N/A is free the meetings are only a hour long and will help you make sense of what your going threw....the support you get there will help you learn the copping skills to do life on lifes terms...90 days is ausum but it is only a short wile in recovery...I know you dont want to here this but for most of us it takes time to recovery + a progam....nothing changes if nothing changes  time to put some effort in your recovery google a N/A meeting in your area and start going...If you give the progam 6 mo you will see a amazing change in the very way you think  please dont try to do this on strong will it rarely works long term as always keep posting for support..................Gnarly..................

Hockey, nice to see you. Congrats on 90. Well guess what, I remember detoxing, getting some clean time and feeling just as you described. I was doing it on my own. I didn't do any aftercare; I just tried "get a life" on my own. I wasn't taking pills but still had my sad, obsessive, anxious addict brain that tortured me. I eventually started buying pills again. Then I was back up to full time addiction. When I finally had it, I started going to meetings and all that sh!t went away. There is no way I'd be clean and sane w/o meetings. Everyone I know says the same. I am assuming you've done no aftercare? Well, this is what happens. The desire to use actually goes away when you are in a program.

Have you been doing the 90 days on your on or are you using other medicine to help you get clean?  I have been fighting this fight with the pain pills for over fifteen years and have tried it all Rehab's other medication cold turkey and can't seem to kick it.  Just the thought of not having pills makes me sick nervous, depressed even suicidal. Any advice would greatly be apprised. Cat soup 77
