Excellent.  Keeping busy is a huge key to keeping our minds off using.  Its not easy in the beginning because our bodies are tired and everything feels weird to do without pills.   Time takes care of that.   Happy Holidays to you too!

I'm looking forward to my kids being home to. My wife is a stay at home mom so she gets to spend more time with them than I do. Having them home is such a comfort. Just wanted to offer my support, so stay busy and have a great Christmas with your kids!

Haha, staying busy is important just to have that feeling of accomplishment and purpose as a decent human being so your thoughts and feelings are legitimate. I have 8 1/2 months clean and sober and I NEED to be doing something at all times. I'm sure 20 years from now that will be no different. I go to 5 A meetings a week (even though I'm a recovering heroin addict), I have a wife, I help raise my 3 stepchildren, I run a couple miles a day, go to the gym, read about 2 books a week, and go hiking whenever possible. On rare occasions I'll go skateboarding and snowboarding... but now I realize I just don't have the time to do all the things I want to do or used to do a lot. So if anything, in the future you'll find that the issue is not what to do with your time, but what things you'll have to leave out because you don't have time for them!

Keeping yourself busy is so important in staying clean! In the beginning it helps so much with the physical w/d's because it gets your natural endorphins flowing which also helps with energy. Keeping yourself busy AFTER the physical w/d's are gone is just as important, if not more important because your brain will start playing tricks on you and it will try to trick you into taking "just 1 pill". I am 70 days clean and I STILL struggle with that if I get bored or and not keeping myself busy.

Keep up the good work and stay busy! :)

Your on the right track with staying busy. My worse days are my days when I have nothing to do. Go visit someone, go to a movie or just get outside for a while. Staying busy has really helped me stay clean. I'm on day 56 and it has gotten better with each passing day. Just stay strong and remember things will improve with time!

Oh boy do I know what you're going through.  My very first post on this forum (on the emily thread that was a place for people going through tramadol withdrawal).  But my very first post read "now what??"... so I know what you're saying, BOY do I know what you're saying!  lol

And you did good.  Cleaning the house is a great place to start.  I did that too.  And I started cooking again.. I basically stopped doing all the things I loved when I was taking the pills.  So although it felt foreign to me, those first few times doing the things I loved, I pushed myself figuring eventually I would feel it and it would make me feel better.  And it did.

Keep going - it really does get better.  I know we all say that all the time, and it starts to sound cliche.  But I promise you, it's SO true.  :)
