That's so cool! A fellow Yogini.  I love the school I am going to, I have never wanted to study so much.  How long did you teach for?  I have been thinking about clonidine,  I am going to give my dr. a call on Monday.

Hey Linda that's awesome!
When I got clean I became a yoga instructor as well!  It had/has helped me so much that I wanted to pass it on to others.
I don't teach that anymore as I am mainly an acting teacher and director and I own a business doing this, but yoga is a HUGE part of my recovery process.
Sadly, I am in a pain crisis due to a flare of my stage 4 endometriosis and have not been able to do any physical activity for 6 months because it makes the pain unbearable.  The yoga nidra is my compromise.
Just keep working on your yogic breathing and the nidra-
it is better than any anti-anxiety med or remedy that there is.
The heart pounding etc should subside soon.  It's just that our CNS is so suppressed by the opiates and as we detox it gets over-activated.
I used clonidine during detox (a BP med commonly used in opiate detox) and it really helped with those symptoms.  I don't think I could have done it without it as I jumped off a high dose of oxy (150 mg).
Keep it up you are doing great !
Namaste-

I DO YOGA NIDRA EVERY DAY ALMOST!!!!  I did it 2x today. It helps me fall asleep!!!  I got all excited whenI read that.  I am in school studying to be a yoga therapist!  I will be learning how to teach Yoga Nidra!  It is very hard for me to lay down and so the breathing.  My heart is pounding and I can't stand the noise or feel of it. I get more freaked out.  I have been trying the Nadishodana ( alternate nostril berating)  You breath in through the left nostril while holding the right and and then exhale through the right nostril. Then you inhale through the right nostril while holding the left and then exhale out the left. Repeat as many times as you like.   I'm so happy you like yoga!!!!  That made my day!  Nice that it's geared toward addiction.  I can't wait to do it tonight when I get home from work.

Thanks Deb-

That was my wonder if Linda was on mood stabilizers.  I'm not positive but I think something in the rescue remedy interacts with certain SSRI's.  So check Linda.
But as Annie said it IS homeopathic and it IS effective for some.
Ultimately, the best way to deal with anxiety is with exercise and deep breathing exercises.
Do this when you feel the anxiety coming on.
Go and lay in a cool dark room, preferably with an eye pillow or cool washcloth over your eyes.
Inhale through your nose for 6 counts (try to breath all the way down to your belly)  Hold this breath for 2 counts and then exhale through the nose for 8 counts.  Repeat until your heart rate slows and your limbs feel heavy.

Also, awhile back I posted a link to a Yoga Nidra meditation that is geared towards anxiety/chronic pain and addiction issues.
I am gonna go grab it as I found it extremely helpful for calming my body and mind when I was in terrible pain and started to panic
BRB.

Lindsey Hun since you are on mood stabilizers I would check with your
Doctor to make sure there will be no interactions.

Hi,

If taken as directed, Bach's 38 flower remedies are very dilute. They're considered homeopathic by many as they work on an 'energy signal' principle. They theoretically work by cumulatively affecting our emotions. Dr. Bach believed that illness was due to unhappiness & stress so he looked for a natural way to change the 'energy' or 'vibration' of mood. As Lulu said, they are effective for many. A plus is that they don't have the side effects associated with mood-altering medications & pharmaceuticals.

No, they won't harm you during a methadone taper. At best, they might help with anxiety, at worst they'll have no affect. I wouldn't expect miracles in terms of easing physical symptoms with them,  though :)

Yes, that is exactly what I meant.  Once in a while you might ask a question that a person doesn't know the answer to.  This is a good thing because we will find out all we can and learn something new :-)

As far as the 1 thread...you aren't limited to just one thread...but if what you are talking about on the first thread is related to your detox then stick to that thread.  I started a new thread when I finally go to where the worst of the detox was done because I was celebrating.  I think I said something like "One Week And I Survived!!!  Then that thread wound up being about celebration and discussions about aftercare.  Well, you get the idea.

Glad the story about my hubby made you giggle.  I sure was not giggling at 5 a.m. but after I woke up I found the humor in it then I spent an hour convincing him that he shouldn't feel guilty...he couldn't help what happened and I should have done a check on the herbals to make sure they were okay for him to take.  Told him though it puts a whole new meaning on the phrase "rain check".  Told him if he woke me up like that again I was just gonna say "rain check baby"  lol

Hey,  you have been very helpful and I enjoyed reading the story you and your husband, it's made me giggle.  There is one part I didn't understand.  what did you mean when you said...?
"Once in a while you might actually stymie someone who says...wow, I don't know...hang on while I learn what I can :-)."
Oh wait.  Were you saying that every once in a while I may stumble upon someone who doesn't know the answer to a question I may have?
Other than that, I get it.  I will only have 1 thread from now on.  I have been using the site for around 4 days now.  I am use to posting on sites like Facebook. It's a lot different.

Thanks Guys.
xoxoxo
I hope everyone has a beautiful day.

Well, I've checked up on Bach's Rescue Remedy and it sounds really good.  However, I agree with our lovely LuLu...you should check with your doctor first.  Just because something is made with herbs and flowers does not mean it is health for you.

For example, I got my hubby a super melatonin capsule filled with herbs and flowers.  He got the most realistic nightmares ever.  He actually would wake up and think that whatever he was dreaming was real and I would spend anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes convincing him that it was a dream.  One time he woke me up at 5 a.m telling me it was time to get up because he was making supper.  He truly thought it was dinner time.

Now obviously none of this posed a serious danger to him but it could have.  What if he had dreamt that he was driving to North Carolina to visit his aunt and uncle....I would have woke up and had no idea where he went.

Anyway, you get the idea.  Do a double check with your doctor and your pharmacist.  Some natural herbs and flowers work in contrast against other types of medicines.  For instance, Grapefruit reduces the effect of some blood pressure medicines and also cholesterol lowering medicines.

Hope that this actually helps :-)

When your previous post gets really big just put a final post saying "starting new thread".  Then on the new post put "Whatever the Title of the First post was - Part Two".  That way those who are following you can find you faster.  You can ask as many questions as you would like.  We just request that you do it in a manner where we can find all your posts.  For instance, I'm new to your posting since I was gone for a while.  I would love if I could catch up with everything on the first posting...then I would know what to search for using the search form to find your 2nd posting.

Hope that helps...and never stop asking questions.  Once in a while you might actually stymie someone who says...wow, I don't know...hang on while I learn what I can :-)  That's good for the ones of us who use this forum to learn for ourselves and want to help others.  The more knowledge the better!

Hugs

Oh okay, so I should ask all questions, even if they are different, in one BIG thread?

It is fine to ask but you may be best served to stay in one post. It is confusing and hard to follow you when you have more than one or two posts. It is easier to follow your entire story in just one.

Is it not okay to ask a bunch of questions?

Absolutely.
It is an all natural anti-anxiety concotion that helps many.  As far as I know, it is not contraindicated with methadone but it is always best to check with your physician (:
