Has anyone successfully used Valium to taper of Benzo's.  I am having severe withdrawal symptoms just getting started.  Pain and burning is unbelievable.  I am changing over from Ativan to Valium to taper off slowly but had Dr's crash me off a year ago and am still suffering from that incident.

Hi hun ive been addicted to valium,,,Michelle is right it is a benzo and im doing my 2nd rattle off them now head up bum achey legs and i know i have a lot more to come stay away from valium babe its as hard to come off as it is the gear

Valium is considered the safest benzo they use to taper off of other benzos any taper from any benzo there needs to a very slow taper plan that is supervised BY A DOCTOR if not the can be very serous side effects like seizures there is a doctor in the uk that has a great web site she has an amazing amount of knowledge of benzo addiction and withdrawal..

hello, i may be wrong, but I believe that Valium is also in the benzodiazepine (sp) family.  I used valium when I was w/d from opiates the first time.  Didn't really help me sleep, just relax a bit.  Nothing really helped me though, just time.  Good Luck !
