Benzo's, When to pull the plug?

Been tapering Valium for almost 5 months, not counting the 2 years I dropped a few mg once in awhile and never noticed it. Down to 3.25mg, this will be my 3rd night that's usually when it hits. Feel a tad anxious, memory probs, confused (wife says thats normal). I'm surprised how much you feel a small cut when you get below 5mg. I took it for 12 years, 30mg for some of those years, never missed a day,, yet. I am taking 3/4 of a 5mg now, I think thats 3.25mg.

What I need is someone to tell me when to pull the plug. I am so sick of feeling poorly I wonder if this tapering is all it's cracked up to be at a low dose? That person in the Ashton Manual took about 10 months to get off 5mg. (I think), I don't have that luxury. How long can you feel bad once stable on 3.25mg? I thought someone said 2.5mg is a good place to stop. Not sure. Thinking is most definitely impaired. Gotta wrap this whole deal up.

I'd like to hear from some people that quit Valium to hear when they just stopped. In a perfect world a Doctor would be helping me. Here the only reason 2 Doctors gave me 30, 5s is because I went into A-fib. I never asked for Valium. Looking back they were pushed on me by a Doctor, just as hard as a dealer selling pills at a concert. I didn't have a clue what I was getting into. I'm sure many can relate.

Merry Christmas and Bless you all. I have never seen such a place as this. It's a wonderful thing.

Barry

Water titration. The lower you go the less side effects you will have and less risk for seizures. Go on youtube and watch how to properly do it. Bezos are the hardest drugs to kick. It will take months and some cases year to completely get clean. I was on xanax for 3 months and decided to stop. I was  in ER on the day 3. The withdrawals were so crazy i felt like killing myself. I had no choice but to go on Klonopin just to feel normal. This site is very helpful. http://www.benzo.org.uk/manual/bzsched.htm

That sounds terrible ribs. How long have you been weaning? Did you go way too fast? That passing out or seizures is rough, I can relate but I only stay out for like 30 seconds, then don't know where I am for another few seconds. I haven't had seizures but one of the reasons I was on Valium, I used to pass out, my daughter pulled me out of the trash can in the bathroom one day and said I was twitching. I have passed out 12 times in one day(personal record). Honestly didn't think I was going to make it. This went on for 3 years or so. It was always from coughing or straining. I hurt myself many times dropping where I stood/sat. Sure hoping that doesn't come back. Have not passed out in over 12 years, since I got on Valium and I haven't had a cold in 10 years.

I would really like it if I could get a supportive Doctor on board with this taper. They wanted me weaned off in 2-3 weeks. These Doctors around here have lost what little respect I ever had for them. They have done other stuff in the past, terrible medical mistakes with my family that you would be surprised to hear. They killed my Dad, tip of the iceberg. I have terrible distrust for Doctors in general.

The Doctor that was treating and put me on Valium was okay but has moved away. These new Doctors don't seem to care or get it. They just don't want to let me stay on Valium, Soma and Norco, I understand but don't agree with it. I don't think one size fits all. I always juggle it and don't take the hydro with the Valium. I get in such terrible pain from my accident that nothing will take it away, makes me crazy. Then I take 1 Norco and 1 Soma. Yes, I feel it, it usually puts me to bed but when I wake up the pain resets itself and I don't do it again until the next bad flare up, might be 2 weeks or 2 months. Always seemed better than getting on Oxy to me.

Even at theraputic levels Valium has been kicking my butt weaning off it. It has been far from painless. Funny how something you don't even feel can cause so many problems. I was Rx'd 4, 10s a day at first. I never took 4 so he changed it to 3. The Doc was running a suboxone clinic. Rx'd me 4 Vicodin w/4 refills, 4 Soma w/11 refills and Valium w/4 refills. Do ya think he was trying to reel me in to his clinic?

Hi Barry, I ended up in the E.R. last night as I had a seizure while at the grocery store. I don't remember anything until I woke up at the E.R. The reason for my seizure? I didn't follow my Dr's tapering of Lorezapam plan. I thought I was low enough to jump off.
I think what I am trying to get at is that it is important to be honest with your Dr. and tell him what you want and follow hi taper to the T. I don't mean to preach, but last night woke me up. I am sore today and my teeth went through my lips and the time I lost freaked me out. I hope this helps you. It helps me to just get it off of my chest and share.
Thanks,
RGB
