Boredum = Cravings

Ive gotten thru the physical withdraw ok...Im pretty tired all the time. Slightly depressed. I dont wanna do the dishes or anything. Im totally unmotivated right now which makes the boredum worse which makes cravings worse. Its not that I cant do anything...I just dont feel like it at all. I dont really need answers or suggestions on what to do...maybe just encouragement or someones elses story on how they got clean and what you do to stay sober....I dont know. Im lookin for anything right now I guess. Thanks everyone.

Oh, and good for you on checking out the culinary schools! I wish I enjoyed cooking and I admire people who turn food into art. Lol, my husband does most of the cooking and I am his suous chef and just hand him stuff. And see, you have taken action toward your dream. Keep focusing on that goal. I am very proud of you! :)

'Gurl, I know what you mean about watching those shows, only for me it is Hoarders and Clean House. I don't know why I watch them because especially with Hoarders I feel sad afterward. Maybe I am looking for answers about my mom and trying to understand. My husband tries to understand but he thinks I dwell on the bad stuff too much. He may be right. A lot of this is simply way beyond me or my control. The main positive is that watching that stuff renews my vow to not be like that.

Glad to see that you are still posting! Way to go! Let's both resolve to be more positive and active this new year. I know it is so difficult, yet here you are! Do things as you can and maybe find some funny shows or comedians to watch. I am trying to take my own advice.

I am pulling for you :)

Whats weird is I ant watch movies with drugs in them...or even celeb rehab. When I see them going though WD on the show...it makes my skin crawl. Ive been doing research on a cullinary school in cali. Thats my goal. Anytime I want a line I think about needing to be clean to make it through school and get a career. Mostly because I used to be so motivated and posative and drugs have taken that away from me.

You are so sweet, thank you! I know I still have a long road ahead and having said that, it does get better. NA and the fact that my best friend went through this and goes to NA too really helps. I am glad you keep posting and believe you can do this. I guess what I was trying to say earlier is that you can take things slow. Your recovery right now is the most important thing. Keeping your mind occupied and doing things around the house in increments so it doesn't get overwhelming really does help. I, and a lot of others here, are thinking of you and pulling for you. I hope you have a Happy New Year!

I agree with lu and ricart. Exercise works wonders. I was just saying that you don't have to do a lot in the beginning. Just getting out there and moving really helps.

Lulu has it!  I run 3 sometimes 5 miles a day and do yoga. Not saying you have to kill yourself.I have done this for a long time and find it invaluable as treatment for my depression and also cravings etc..
I just want to tell you hang in there.I know you can do it.Concentrate on sobriety,not on using.There is a book called rational recovery that is great and cheap on amazon.   Just promise yourself 30 days.Then you will know how you feel and at 30 days I guarantee you it won't be anything like you feel right now.Good job!!!  you are worth it!   and one more thing -if you really feel like using or your mom offers you a pill,come on here BEFORE you take it and talk to us. PLEASE   hug for you

I force myself to exercise.  Every time I'm feeling restless and worn out I make myself put on my big girl boots and go for a hike with my dogs (several times a day right now)  It helps so much.  It takes awhile for those natural endorphins to return to your brain.  You gotta help them anyway you can.  Be proud of how far you've come....It keeps getting better-promise....Lu

Hi 'gurl. I can't say I am a success story because I have only been off of my meds for 6 weeks. What I can say is that I am proud of you for sticking it out and posting! What has helped me is to do something that interests you to occupy your brain. Believe it or not, I started playing Bubble Blast and Need for Speed Racing on my phone. I also read up on how to hack or "root" my phone and have gotten interested in Android programming. As for housework and chores, tackle a little each time. Tell yourself that you are going to load the dishwasher and then take a break and do something you enjoy. After you do that,unload the dishwasher and then take another break. Then put a load of clothes in the wash. Take it in small increments rather than looking at the big picture. Just work through it a little bit at a time. Also, I have found that action breeds motivation. Those little steps really do add up. Also, even just getting out of the house and walking around the block helps. You don't have to do a mile, and you don't have to jog or race walk.

It will take time. You will notice that each day gets a little better. I hope you are OK and please keep posting :)
