hey hun, there is a mental health forum i think you might get better info on... of course you are welcome here, i'm just afraid you might get more info there..
i can tell you that "nervous breakdown" is not actually a clinical diagnosis, not anymore. the term was used a long time ago, and now, there are dianosise that are more specific.
to me, it is clear it is severe stress tho, especially if he has psoriasis due to stress. someone in my family also went through something very similar... but your friend has to get some professional help. i don't think it will get better unless he does. and makes some big lifestyle changes as well.
good luck to you both...
One more question....is there any other way to measure blood pressure by counting heart beats?
I wish I had a blood pressure monitor thingeeee...............
Thanks Marcatj, I appreciate it so much. I keep forgetting there are other sections on this site.
Peace : )
I'm not sure but I may have called an ambulance for him. It sounds like this was unexpected??
Dove
Dove, it was like out of no where. One second me was fine, then 10 min later I found him on the bathroom floor. But what puzzles me is why he lost all muscle and motor control. That is really what I am worried about. I am also going to post this in the Mental Health forum and see if anyone has experience with this.
I wanted to call the paramedics but as soon as he heard me talking on the phone he said "If you call 911 I am outta here". Even though he couldn't walk. He looked like a fricken zombie!
*sigh*
Peace
massive pannick attack! the er would have put him in the pscy ward, which isnt a bad place. they could have gotton him on the proprer meds. ITS A scary thing to lose control like that. Maybe he can go to his dr . hope this helps.
no meds? If he was deaf would he wear a hearing aide? lIFE IS FINE on antidepresents teach
No, you see this dude is not depressed, or so he says. He has major stress at work, and he is a perfect candidate for a heart attack. I just have never seen him do this before, and we are family, I would have known if he ever did in the past.
So you see, that is why I am wondering if it is nervous breakdown or panic attack because he was sobbing. But the worst was the physical stuff, that was not normal.
Thanks : )
Peace
he's depressed hun... you can bank on it.
and he needs help by a pro or it's very very likely going to happen again, with worse results. the best thing you can do for him is to let him know this..
the next time it could happen in public, and he WILL end up in a psych ward...
believe it or not my partner suffered from the very same thing it does sound like a nervous breakdown which needs to get dealt with straight away my partner says in all his yrs off suffering a nervous breakdown he never came across any counsellor that can help in that area he wud need to find someone that specialises in phobias fears and panic attacks the fact that this only happened recently and you are helping him his chances off recovery are excellent. this is a MUST you have to get "self help for your nerves"by doctor claire weekes she will teach him exactly what is going on in his mind and body and show him the way to cure it. do not take breakdown lightly as it can come and often remain with its victim for the rest off there life. xanax is very good for dealing with panic attacks and the way you dealt with the suitation was perfect. good luck and make sure he gets that book.
Thanks for the feedback. I really appreciate it. He is doing much better today. He slept for 14 hours. He has been overly stressed at work and is pretty sure is was a breakdown.
He is going to see a Doc tomorrow and get some help, start some stress management and maybe get on some Xanax for himself.
Again, thanks so much, and love_hope I will get him that book for sure.
Peace
