Can I go from 60 mg of oxy to 30 mg? Please help with this.

On 60 mg oxycodone for one month and a few days. Can I drop to 30 mg of oxycodone for a few days or so to avoid withdrawals. What worked for you? Been clean for awhile, had surgery. Then back on.. Please no preaching, I know I need to get off, just need good answers that are similar to my situation. Don't mean to sound rude but just need to get it done and need some good advise. Is this to much of a drop? I only have 30 pills left of 15 mg. thanks for your input....

Personally I don't think you'll feel too bad with an initial drop from 90 to 30 but after that I think you'll need to take it a bit slower.  I think you'll do really well if you can incorporate some the things in the Thomas recipe that will help with any withdrawals you may get.  Stay hydrated and don't rush things.  I've done an initial big drop several times and because I was on high doses, that first drop didn't bother me much.  Once I tried to taper really fast and that was an epic fail.  So maybe try the big drop and then from there take it a bit slower.  Drop a bit, stabilize, and drop a little more.  You'll get there.  We're all in a rush to get off things and when we go too fast it's at least as bad as going CT.  Magnesium and a good multi vitamin will help.  Also bananas and OJ for potassium.  One of my biggest symptoms was my legs were soooo heavy.  Every step took huge effort.  When I added in the magnesium and restful legs by Hylands it got a bit better.  You can do this.  Lots of people here who want to help.

Hi- One month isn't very long so you may not have wd's at all...How long were you clean before the surgery?

If you are asking if a 50% drop in your dose is considered a "taper" or "weaning" off.....nope....it's not.  There is no way to "avoid w/drawals".

You will feel a drop like that....maybe not as bad initially as cold turkey...but it will drag out the nasties of w/drawal.  Oxycodone is one of the shorter acting opioids....so the first week will be the worst.  The medical recommendation for a taper tends to be a 20-25% drop over a certain period of time....slow and easy for the taper to serve a useful purpose.
