Can someone explain this situation?

Hello,
I have a 17 year old nephew. He was a "A" student with a full ride scholarship in the medical field. This last 6 months I have watched my nephew spiral out of control. This month he has dropped out of school. His friends have all of a sudden changed. He takes no pride in his apperance. He was caught high on marijuana at school before he dropped out. My sister and brother in law are besides themselves and lost in what to do. Their home is filled with contentment and stress all the time. They know he is buying and taking aderoll and mixing it with over the counter cold medicines. They found the tablets in his room. He was a great kid and has a potential to do great things. Does anyone have any advice on how to help or any information on the drug he is using. Me and my family are not informed when it comes to drug use. Any information that you could offer would be great!!

if he is 17 his parents still have the control legally...i would suggest getting him into some type of inpatient rehab, if his use has been short term, his chances of recovery are good, the only thing is he has to also realize he needs to change he may resist treatment, but as long as he is under 18 he doesnt have a say, in most states anyway...i am pretty sure it is the same everywhere though, it sure wouldnt hurt to put in a call somewhere in your area and find out what options are available for help...hes still young, i wouldnt wait...
good luck and i hope this helped some...you might want to repost you question in the morning when more people are around..
best wishes...
