Can you mix Methadone and Vicodin?

I have been on methadone for six years for pain management.  My problem is that I have a horrible toothache and have taken two aleive pills and still hurting so bad.  Can I take a 5mg Vicodin to get some relief? My methadone dose is 60mg a day through a controlled clinic.

Hey you guys.. .I"m OKAY! .. THANKS for your concerns.. , The reason I was asking was for my friend... And.. thanks Lee for your concern about the COMPANY I'm KEEPING.... I couldn't agree more.. BUT... my friend and I go way back and I'm just one of those people that has a hard time seeing other people suffer... and in pain...It's just ME... (call me Co-Dependent.. but I just can't kick people to the curb.. expecially when they're hurting...)

I've got too much CLEAN time under my belt... and... after seeing what my friend is going thru.. confirms that I will never go back...

If you haven't already,read his journal entry.I'm certain you would be able to offer him some good advise as well.Seems as though he is traveling down a road where myself as well as you and countless others have already been.There is strength in numbers sometimes and hopefully if enough of us can reassure him that there is nothing down that road but pain and misery and tons of regrets he'll put some real hard thought into it and be spared what we and our loved ones have had to endure due to our addiction.All the best...Kim

kim i agree with you, i was just not wanting to point out the fact that i found his post here a lil inconsiderate and somewhat naive, I also pray that he quickly sees were the road of active addiction leads

I just read your journal entry a few minutes ago and posted on it.I pray that you read the comments and take the advice given to you by those of us who have been where you are headed.The fact that you refer to perks as being better then vikes is scary.If you keep headed down this path, where so many of us have gone before you, trust me you won't see one as being 'better' then the other.You will see them both,as many of us do now,pure evil,and you'll regret the first time you were ever introduced to either.I hope you stick around and keep reading,I really do....Kim

hey girl, Hey are you asking this? I know you are still clean and all, but askin this question makes me worry about the company you are keepin...please dont hang around people usin, puts you in a though place. You know the answer to this question is "no" methadone should be used only by hard core users that are usin it as a means to get clean, and mixin those two does not sound like something a person tryin to get clean would do! Please dont listen to people talkin about "blowing the two" that alone spells addiction and possibly death, you are better than this.....

Yeah... I used to blow them both together, a vik 10/325(norco) and a methadome 5 or a couple. OH well, not too many though. methadomes make you tired after and percs are way better than vikes because vikes make you tired too.

Idk how long youve been using, maybe you could shed some light maybe?

Just saw your other post,now I understand.If your friend is mixing these 2 drugs,then your friend is playing with his/her life.Thats a dangerous mix,to abuse these 2 drugs.

Like Lisa I have known people who were on methadone and were also prescribed vicodin.I didn't understand it either.I  always thought if you were on a substantial enough amount of methadone you wouldn't even feel the vicodin.Can you tell us why you are asking?  All the best...Kim

Depends on how much methadone the person is on.   For most people if you are on a STABLE dose of the done then vico will not even do anything at all.  It kinda defeats the purpose.  However I have heard of doctors doing it.  Methadone for major pain and vico for breakthru.  ??????? It does not make much sense to me????????
