Checking in... 22 months clean

It's been a long while, so I wanted to stop in with an update. Almost 2 years ago, I jumped off suboxone cold-turkey at 4mgs a day. It was the hardest thing I've ever done in my life, but it is also the best thing.. especially today, which was my first day interning at my old suboxone clinic! I lead group, and will be doing case management, etc. If anyone had told me 2 years ago when I was sick and desperate surfing this forum that I would be where I am today, I would not have believed it! I just had to post, for those struggling and about to start this journey, please stick with it! The pain of withdrawal is ABSOLUTELY worth it! And thats coming from someone who went through one hell of a withdrawal! I made it because I reached out for help, like on this forum, I went to AA, NA, and Celebrate Recovery meetings, did the steps, and reached out to my higher power. Not to say its been easy, I had a lot of PAWS to deal with around my year mark, and nearly gave up... but the support system in my life is the real deal. In 2 months, on September 16th, I'll get to pick up my 2 year chip at my meetings, and get my peer recovery specialist training! If anyone has any questions, I'm here for ya! Keep fighting the good fight.

Congrats! Nice job.   I'm 31 days clean.  I used an 8mg sub strip.  Cut it into 6 slices.  I used 3 of the slices total... 1 slice per day.  After that period I was able to go cold turkey.  Those 3 days allowed me to get off morphine and percs from my body.

I think this is a great result of quitting our drugs and moving forwards!  I would not still be clean without the recovery that was recommended to me on this website.  I'm a little over 3 1/2 years off of subs as well.  I did as you and quit cold turkey....so when you say HELL, I know exactly what you're referring to!
Congratulations to you and ALL of your hard work.  Keep spreading the message....there is a life after drugs!
