Thanks for the info henryS354. I will pass that along and be sure to tell her to contact her dr!
Tram- she is a MH member and cannot access her computer right now so asked me to post this question. She has been on Vicodin 10mg for a couple of years now. She usually takes about 6 plus a day. She has been through wd before, but this time wd seems to be pretty severe. Her Dr. did prescribe her clonidine but only to take a pill at night. She is having severe depression, lots of anxiety, and just panicking about how she is feeling. Not sleeping either. Any suggestion or support for her would be appreciated. I know she is taking her vitamins and drinking fluids.
What is she WDing from?
I have used it several times for WD. .1 to .2 is usual dose I believe. Contact her doctor!
.1mg is usually the standard dose given to those in opiate wd's with directions to be taken anywhere from 1 to 3 times daily. It varies by doctor.
Clonidine can be great for some, and really take the edge off, and for others does nothing. Unfortunatelly its just one of those meds.
Your friend needs to follow the dosing prescribed by her doctor, and if its not effective she needs to call the doc. Clonidine is a blood pressure medication that just happens to assist in wd's for some. Using too much can drop a persons blood pressure super low and cause fainting. Stopping clonidine can cause rebound hypertension- making the BP spike to super high levels.
IT can be a great med, but please have your friend follow the docs orders.
Wish I had a better answer for you.
