Day 12 off of opiates

Hello...I'm on Day 12 off of 100-120 mgs of percs, which I have been on medically for the last 2 years.  I used the Loperamide withdrawal method, and it did really help me through the first 4 days.  I don't have any cravings for it, physically or mentally, but I have NO motivation or energy.  I ordered some DLPA which should be here tomorrow.  I'm already on anti-depressants, but they don't seem to be helping much.  I soo want my life back!  I want my zest and energy I had before I started these...ugh...when will I start having more energy???

Way to go on your clean time...give it time...I was listless for many months thinking I d never get my energy back.  There were good days and bad...more bad.   It does come back...eat well,  get plenty of sleep and try to do some physical work even if it s just for a short time....it will get better, hang in there and keep posting questions.  Wishing you an awesome recovery

Hello & Welcome!

Congrats on your clean time! Keep pushing forward!
I agree with my friends above. You can learn more about those brain chems and what happens when we do use different types of pills or substances, by Researching or asking a Dr too. It will take some time for all of this to balance back and many factors play here, as CIK mentioned. I do think at only 2yrs of using you should be bouncing back way quicker then most that had used for a very long time. Progressive Disease, becomes a Process to Recover. I wish you the best and keep us updated!

Congratulations on 12 Days!!
Unfortunately, it takes our brains some time to heal and begin producing natural endorphins (nature's opiate).  Feeling like a slug is normal...and the timeline varies for each person based on age, length of use and dose that you were on.
Some ways to help produce some natural endorphins are:

Eat dark chocolate
Sex
Exercise
Listening to Music
Laughter....make yourself giggle
Inhaling the scents of vanilla and/or lavender
Sunshine

All of those things will help; but it takes time for our neurotransmitters to get used to not having an opiate tell them NOT to produce endorphins.
Our serotonin and dopamine levels have to have some time to begin working like they did before we took opiate medications.

Please post any other questions you have.  We'd love to hear how you're doing, ok?

Thank you for the support!  I had a difficult day today, a lot of depression...looking at my life and what I have missed out on the past few years.  I started taking the DLPA, but honestly I don't notice any difference yet.  I will get out and start walking tomorrow!

Hi- Twelve days is wonderful! Good for you!  I'm sure you're anxious to get back to baseline but it takes a few weeks for that brain chemistry to normalize.  It will get better and you'll feel stronger and more energized with time.

Be sure to eat well and exercise. Nothing strenuous, walking is good.  Just be patient with the process. You're body is still adjusting.  Stay in touch!
