Day 8 and severe stomach ache???

I have been up for hours now suffering from severe stomach pains. They arent like cramps but more like a hot poker going thru my gut. I'm not sure if thats normal or if i'm having more issues. I'm trying to keep a positive attitude but pain has a way of making you say F it. I don't like feeling like that anyway i'm usually a very positive person and the last 2 days have taken a real toll on me I can't go to the dr about the stomach pains either which really bites. I have stomach and intestinal problems anyway I even had to have my gall bladder taken out so when I go in with pain of any kind in that visinity they throw perc 5's at me DUH I don't want to take those but they tell me there is really nothing they can do except control the pain. I've tried herbal treatments and every over the counter remedy I can think of but they don't work it either makes my stomach bleed but takes away the pain or it does nothing (sigh) I'm sorry for ranting but i'm at the end of my rope and trying not to "hang" myself with it. I know going 8 days with only protein shakes or the occasional cracker is going to tick my stomach off but this is almost beyond my tolerance level. Any advice would greatly be appriciated!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well this morning is a whole lot better but the "spasams" if thats what it was has made my whole torso feel like I was in a boxing match :) more sore than anything and thanks so much Krissy I never thought of that I knew depression caused pain but I guess being tensed up due to anxiety would hurt DUH :). I did'nt know there was a pill out there strong enough because the dr's I have been seeing keep shoving perc's at me like that is a wonder drug that cures everything belive it or not I beg and plead for something that won't get me hooked but they look at me funny and then tell me my pain must not be that bad. The best thing that came out of yesterday is I know now is the time to find a new Dr. office and a second opionion on the thyroid cancer thing I do have a family history of cancer but I have always been the type to rule out all the little things before throwing the "C" word arround. I googled swelled thyroid when I got home and there are alot and I mean alot of reasons for it to be swelled so thank goodness for google :) so day 9 has already started off good my angel is on my shoulder and great advice is only a few buttons away. I hope all of you have a great day!!!

Stomach cramps are a part of WD and can last for about 10 after your last "dose of opiates"  I looked this stuff up on the net and found some stuff posted in Medical Journals.  Do a quick search, it may ease your mind.  Not to mention you've already had GI probs.  As for anxiety causing pain.   Believe it or not, it can,  you tend to tense up when you are anxious.  So, imagine being anxious all day.  You are tense all day.  I have suffered with severe anxiety for along time.  So, I sympathize with you very much.  However, if you are having very severe stomach pain, there are non-narcotic meds that actually will calm your Gastro- Intestinal tract muscles.  It prevents them from spasms.  I wish I could remember what the name of the one I had was.  It was very good, it stopped diarrhea also.  It was actually prescribed for Opiate WD.  See if your doctor can find something like that for you.  By the way, Doctors can be either hit or miss.  Sometimes it feels like they don't want to bothered with us.  Sometimes they don't feel the need to explain themselves to us.  Because of your history with GI probs, there may be more to it, but the doctors are too "busy" collecting money to break it all down for you.  But I would definitely check into it.  If you still feel this bad in the am of even in the middle of the night, I'd go the ER, I'm sure they have something like the drug I had before.  Oh, Flexoril is only a muscle relaxer, it won't help your GI tract, but it may calm you down a bit.  Hope this was helpful.  Good luck and keep us posted.

oh wow.  Yea I would say she is overkilling?  by saying-even the word cancer without some tests!!  Paxil may help you with the stomach pains and anxiety, but what the ?
saying anxiety causes pain?  I dont get that one...
At least you can still smile through this!  You are a very strong person.  I can tell that in your posts, and good for you for rejecting the percs!!
Heck, let em look at me like a creep when Im in pain, I don't care.  Try to help the problem not look down on me like I'm a lowlife!!  sorry, guess I was ranting too....:)
I hope you get to feeling better soon...thinking about you and praying for you too!

Ok so I go in to the dr and she is a TWIT!!!! I have been having medical problems most of my life I go in and tell her precisely what is going on and she wants to prescribe perc 10's!! and paxil I say no to the perc's but I get the paxil (i was on it before) then she says "pain causes anxiety and anxiety causes pain" ????????? Then proceeds to feel around my neck and declares I need a blood test to check my white blood count cause my thyroid is swelled and she thinks cancer.......really?? I understand she felt a hard noduel but come on there could be a million reasons for it to be swelled and to tell me she's concerned about cancer without any other test is overkill right? Now I know I need the paxil just because of a dr's visit my nerves are shot :) sorry about the rant but this is so frustrating and if I go find another dr then i'm dr shopping even tho I did'nt get the perc's they look at you like a creep.

I have been taking prilosec for almost 6 years nothing is helping I try and not go to the dr. too much because I know they cant do anything but pain managment. I hate taking pills even tylenol :) not because I'm craving shoot I don't even think about the perc's it's weird I know I'm going to have to do something I have three kids to chase around. They tested me for everything under the sun and some dr's just look at me like i'm a hypocondriac lol but I do have cysts on my ovaries, nodules in my esophagus, acid reflux, TMJ, and ulcers wow thats alot for a 37yr old :) the ulcers are hard the meds never worked I was either throwing up blood or so out of it I couldnt be left by myself. I know the pain is what pushed me to take unprescribed perc's but my body chemistry is so wacked that things that should help just make more problems lol and one good thing(i think) is all the pain has given me a high pain tolerance but when I reach my limit I lose the positive in everything and almost lose hope. Right now the pain is around 8.5 on a scale of 10 but for me I can still function at half speed and my hope is waining that tomorrow will be better. I'll make an appt. for this afternoon and see if they can do something besides give me perc's I'll let you know :)

wow, sounds like the pains I had when they diagnosed me with "alcohol induced gastritis".  Of course, they went away when I quit drinking...but that was the same type pain I had.  Had tests for everything, and all came back negative..those pains made me want to kill myself they were so bad :(
Im so sorry you have to suffer this mess!  Have you tried the Prilosecs and all those type things?  If you have ulcers, cant they treat that??
I hope you start to feel better.  Im worried for you..keep us posted k?

Gee...sorry to read this...I don't think the Flexeril will do anything for you.  :(

Does anything like an antacid help?  Sometimes it's the simple stuff that works.  :)

This is so chronic, maybe there's another pain killer you can take besides Percocet.
What else have you tried for pain?  Pain management doctor?

The pain radiates from side to side and sometimes it "clenches" if that makes sence. I have not had a pain free day since 1992 (except while using) they have done laproscopic exploritory and scopes down my throat. I have been a test dummy for pills that I cant even pronounce and I'm just tired of the "well we have checked and found nodules and ulcers that can be controlled by pain meds" Thats how I got here to begin with. Tylenol sometimes helps but you cant take too many of those. I'll probably make an appointment and be told the same thing but I refuse to take perc's so I'll just be back where I started :) I do have flexiril for my TMJ and where I broke my ankle but I'm not sure if it will work for my stomach. I don't take those unless I have to or it's bedtime cause they tend to make me very tired.

It doesn't sound normal to me. I'd still check with your Dr. and just say no to pills!
Is the pain in your stomach? Lower? Left side? Right side?
